More should be like Florida, it has 20 million people and 1.7 million pernitd. That is approx 3.5 times the population of MD with approximately 6 million people and 15000 permits or so. But let's say 25000 permits are active, if Florida was like Maryland they would only have 85000 permits out.

Florida has 1,6000,000 more permits than we do.

All depends on how you frame the statistics. If looking at total Permits vs total population , Md rounds off to essentially zero with out being absolute zero.

If you break down the Permits into catagories of G&S, by the end of (first?) Hogan administration , there will be an uptick in raw numbers of " non- security industry, non- former CJ system employee, non- politician " Permits.

My first take was that the instructor was not unlike the outfit described in this thread

Reading it again, I don't think so, but something is hinky.

From the article, bold is mine.

Gargana has taken aim at business owners with some advertising that proclaims that "the regulations have changed," and "most business owners and professionals are now eligible for this permit."

Under the process, Maryland State Police still must find a "good and substantial reason" to issue a wear-and-carry permit to a person.

But Gargana said those reasons have been expanded within the past year to include, among other things, business activities, either by the business owner or an employee.

Adding business owners "really widens out the availability" of the license, Gargana said.

As of November of last year, Maryland had 56K active permits (includes security guards, private investigators, etc.)

Thanks for the info DBLAS, so it is 196000 Vs. 1.7 million if Maryland was the size of Florida.

Based on a 3 year rotation of permits Maryland issues 71 permits per day, Florida, based on a 7 tear rotation issues 934 per day,

We have a long way to go.

I understand your thoughts, but the number of permits is just a result of the freedoms afforded to the citizenry. I don't care it it were 500 or 500,000. As long as the normal, law abiding citizen can exercise his God given rights to self-defense, then I am good with it.

If they are God given, then a man/woman shouldn't have to beg, plead, and prove "good and substantial" to reasons their "rulers" for something that is divinely given:mad54: I believe in God, some don't. I believe self defense is an inherent right everyone is born with... just as animals are to protect themselves and their own. Communist crap hole Maryland thinks otherwise:mad54:
And normal, law abiding citizens aren't able to easily and legally exercise their right to self defense in this crap hole state...only select people are.
