I have a Lancaster AK and the quality is excellent! :party29:

I came across a Lancaster 5.45x39mm AK-74 pattern rifle the other day at a local shop. It looked awesome.

That being said $500 for a 7.62x39mm AK-74 pattern rifle, built by Arsenal on a Saiga receiver is too good a deal to pass up. If I had the cash, I'd be ordering one. But alas, my birthday is a couple weeks out. Maybe they'll have a few left by the time that rolls around.

I'd jump on one of these. I've got an SLR-106FR, and the 5.56x45mm ones are on sale - I'd highly recommend one. Nothing but praise for Arsenal/K-VAR from me.

How is yours for front sight cant. My SAM5 has a very slight cant easily corrected by windage. Though it is a nice rifle.

I do like that OD but I have enough 7.62 guns around. Sort of thinking whether to take a chance on a 106FR as I do like the configuration and have plenty of mags. Just got to have straight sights, I will never find a good one reasonable at a gun store (most are asking $1000 plus to much for the rifle).

Ive seen these SGL guns they take standard AK mags. Its not a bad deal as long as Aresenal USA didnt fubar the quality.

If they were 5.56 converteds I would be tempted.

IMPORTANT: Does one need a factory shell casing with these to provide to the MSP? Does one come with a purchase of this SGL rifle?
    Anybody?
    Thanks.

Darn, I wish I would have seen this post earlier about Lancaster 5.45X39. I haven't paid them yet, but I ordered a K-VAR Corp. Arsenal SGL21-61 (7.62X39) last evening from them. I guess they wouldn't allow a cancellation now?

    Isn't that a handgun-only thing?

And, yeah, some pretty nice deals on some high-quality AKs. I love the smell of price drops in the morning!

Can anyone answer with certainty whether one needs a factory shell casing with these AK-47 Saigas, in my case, the SGL21-61 (7.62X39 cal.) to provide to the MSP? I'd really appreciate a definate answer.

Damn you Maryland for making AKs regulated!!!! I just bought my Kimber and since I don't have my collectors status approved yet I got to wait that damn 30 days. What do you think the chances are that this sale will be going on again in 30 days :) ???

    Goodbye MD, Hello freedom
Certainly a good deal on a very nice weapon. I picked up an SGL-20 several months back and it is a great shooter. pretty much as close to a real ak-103 as you're going to get. already has the bullet-guide installed, so it accepts combloc/ak/waffle mags. I got a damn good deal at the time and paid about ~350 less than they were going for online, but this deal beats what I paid by ~300. now if only they would do this for the SGL-31...

NO, shell casing for the AK- regulated "rifle".

Yep, order it now and have it sent to Dan. Then, a week or two before your first 30 days waiting is up, go do paperwork. After the paperwork has been approved, pick it up on the 31st day - from the date which you picked up your first regulated firearm. I went this route, but some dealer will make you wait 30 days before doing paperwork.

I tossed between the Lancaster AK-74 Bulgarian 5.45x39 AK's in the new "Rough Rider" series and the K-VAR AK-47 SGL21-61 (7.62X39). What would be the better choice, if any, both costing the same price $499.00? I believe that the 5.45X39 is costier for ammo., but what about the rest of features/advantages/disadvantages? What would you buy? I'm a newby when it comes to tactical rifles. My expertise is with handguns.
    Thanks!

Not to be an ass, but what's with the asterisks? You're using the quote tags already, you don't need anything further. We know who's saying what, and I just have to go back and remove them so that they don't keep showing up in my replies.

Wrong... 5.45x39 is running 14-15 cents a round, albeit for the corrosive stuff. It's pretty much the cheapest centerfire rifle around at this point. It's also in wide use by Russia, so it's probably not going anywhere anytime soon.

Can't you still order it and just have your ffl hold it the 30 days?

Thank you for pointing this out to me - about the asterisks. I didn't realize this.

I came up with the ammo statement from another website that I was reading last evening. Maybe they didn't know what they were talking about, since you say that 5.45X39 is cheaper.

Don't take my word for it - there's AmmoEngine to vouch for me:
    http://www.ammoengine.com/

IMHO, 5.45x39 and 7.62x25 are the two best deals on ammo out there right now. It's like getting 5.56 and .45 for 1/3 to 1/2 the price. Corrosive ammo isn't really a big deal if you clean the same day - it just adds a couple very simple steps to the cleaning process.

Yes. The SGL 21 will accept all standard hi cap ak 47 mags. The only problem how to get said mags into this communist state.

Not a problem! OnTarget is close to PA, so he can go to gun shows there somewhere. For the rest of us, there are online businesses which will ship these mags to MD - disassembled as replacement parts.
