I went with a friend on Sat. Enjoyed a nice drive and walk about the buildings. Friend bought 1k rounds of ammo at a fair price. I bought a can opener. I'm on a tight budget. So I spent my fun money on an MSI membership and three raffle tickets for the 4H raffle outside. I was disappointed to see how much space Fox took up and the cheesy knife seller in the same bldg. Lurked around Shooters discount and Blue Fins wishfully looking at nice stuff I cant afford...for now. Met the Murray guys. Nice bunch. Their shop is right down the street from my fire house. Glad to have a FFL in Beltsville. Left at 1:00pm after two laps and we had a nice lunch in Boonsboro with an old friend. It was a pretty damn good day. ...Working two jobs, usually seven days a week, I dont get out much so it was a really nice day.

+2 wasted $9.00 and hour of my time driving each way. Will not be attending that place again. Even some of the vendors I talk to said they won't be coming back.

I agree it was disappointing for myself, but I'd be willing to bet it had some to do with the snowout and reschedule.

Also, not to offend any vendor, but why on earth would you sell threaded adapters to mount oil filters? Do we really need that BS tainting our community?

Lastly, and again, not to offend anyone, but there were only a few vendors who I would say presented a semi-professional/professional impression. Is there any wonder why we are not taken seriously as a community?

There was at least one vendor selling the same at Harrisburg. Just sayin'.

I don't even waste my time at Maryland shows anymore. I remember when they used to be good.....very sad. Looking forward to York next weekend though.

You could have used the electronic coupon on your smart phone and only wasted $8.00. LOL.

Was real close to buying a threaded ruger for 235 but ended up keeping my wallet fat. I agree with some of the people here, come here once every three years or so and you'll be good. I thought there was too much overpriced ar stuff. If I drop 1500 on a gun I'm gonna go into a brick and mortar store

That ammo guy was selling all reloads, my buddy got 500 round of 38 special from him and we could smell the difference in powder and feel the difference between his and factory ammo. They were also flying more haphazardly than factory ammo.

Amazes me that vendors/dealers are so reluctant to negotiate. They keep packing up the same inventory from one show, to the next show, to the next. They are so exhausted of moving the same stuff, I watched a vendor fall asleep in his chair, snoring, at 1pm with patrons around his tables.

So you're observations of a dealer falling asleep in his chair 1:00 PM on Sunday, that was me, is supposed to correlate to your wrongful "fact" as you wrongly see it, being tired of moving the same inventory from one show to the next. FYI, several months ago I was rushed to the hospital for emergency open heart surgery, removal of the heart and a new aorta fitted and installed, reinstallation of my newly fixed/assembled heart, and many days following in the hospital to make sure that healing was taking place and hopefully I wouldn't die again, as yes, I died not once, but twice during that umpteen hour surgery. Now that I'm on the LOOOOOONG road of recovery (about 3 years worth), my doctors are experimenting with my blood pressure meds to try and get it just right. The most recent bp meds require me to get 9 to 10 hours sleep every night. During the show weekend I've been delinquent about 10 hours of sleep due to a family member in the hospital. When I'm like that, I can and do fall asleep almost at the drop of a hat as it's almost uncontrollable. Perhaps next time you see somebody doing something that doesn't quite fit the norm, maybe you should ask why and you will most likely be quite enlightened.

I hafta''gree with ya' on the snow-out and subsequent reschedule as it does throw some people off of their busy schedules.

There was a vendor one or two tables behind you selling those threaded adapters to mount oil filters onto rifles to be used as silencers.

Perhaps because it is not illegal to sell said accessories and this is a free country?

What amazes me are the people that pay the price for that "cleaning kit". With little to no investigating, it can be bought for less money and way less conspicuous from other sources.

It's not like building a Lightning Link, it's as simple as it can possibly be.

Caveat: I am not endorsing the building or use of illegal items on or in your firearms.

    I got lunch

^ I ate my MRE (Meals Rejected by Ethiopians) today, it was actually really good. I wish I'd have purchased more. I only got two but they were made in 2010 so I'm not sure how much longer they are good for. Great to keep in your car for emergencies. The heater is freaking amazing, works fast as heck!

Thanks whoever was selling them! I'll buy more if you contact me.

I was not referring to you.

It was never a "fact". It was more of a "sarcastic potential rationale" to further my point which I think you got the gist of. ;)

Sorry about your health issues, I've lost great people to heart problems.

Same vendors, same items, same prices, same as HoCo show.

The AR selection of no-name, entry grade components assembled into complete uppers or FrankenAR15, listed high dollar. Dismiss the semi-knowledgeable enthusiast to prey on the novice.

Is this the norm to be expected from SGS shows?

There is no cost associated with moving inventory from one show to another and as far as I know, there are no expiration dates on these firearms. These dealers are there to make a profit, not sell below cost.

There are some dealers that will put a super high price on their inventory but that's their prerogative. They can always come down on price, but it's impossible to raise your price once a buyer says he wants to buy something.

Capitalism is a great thing if you're an informed buyer. Working both ends against the middle is something I've always enjoyed.

Ditto, 3r was there keeping the Ruger prices affordable. Per the cost I slipped in the door from the parking area and didn't realize they were charging until I went into the 2nd building. I honestly don't understand why they don't just collect at the gate.

Also, rereading this thread I realized I missed the HQL folks. I saw them set up in the corner of the smaller building but didn't connect that they were for the HQL and didn't notice any signage. That alone would have made the trip worthwhile.

I thought I read on MDS several years ago that the threaded adapter was the regulated part, making it considered the same as a suppressor. My ability to successfully use the search function fails me, but I'm sure someone with greater skills (or memory) will help. Thanks!

I must be wrong about that... Amazon sells them and has at least 4 listed. Around $20, give or take. WTF?

How is a thread "adapter" any different from a threaded barrel? Either can accept a matching can. Either can accept a matching brake or flash suppressor.

If you use it, you have broken the law if you have not paid the stamp.
That goes for any Suppressor you build w/o following the rules and paying the stamp.

If your caught w/ the adapter, a threaded gun and a filter, you MAY be up for prosecution.

You are allowed to build your own suppressor AFTER you pay the stamp, thus parts to build your own suppressor are out there. Just like parts for you to legally build your own firearm are out there. You just have to follow the laws (ie, don't brake the laws)
