This article seems to say the state is prohibiting people on the no fly list from buying guns.

"Matt Clark, a spokesman for Hogan, says Maryland already has a policy in place to address gun-permit applications from people on the list. Maryland automatically puts a hold on them, and state police contact the FBI for a security check.

Greg Shipley, spokesman for Maryland State Police, says no one on the list has ever received a gun permit after the review in Maryland."

Technically speaking, everyone in MD gets a hold placed on them when buying a regulated firearm, and a FBI check is part of the process, but that's not exactly what this quote is about.

Well I guess I'm not on the "No Fly" list then

The Governor of Connecticut is signing an executive order banning gun sales to anyone on the terror watch list. People are added to the list with no due process or proof that they are a threat. Anyone can be added at any time. Obama is threatening to do the same thing. Watch what happens after he signs it...every person who has ever had a background check for a gun purchase will be put on the list....

Sounds like they check that when issuing HQL's

They must be using their JTTF Task Force Officer to search the list. Pretty sure it isn't available to anyone other then the JTTF, NCTC (National Counterterrorism Center)or TSA/DHS secure flight facility.
This would be an improper use.

Then there's that whole pesky thing about no legal authority and not being allowed to just make up laws as you go along.

This is a major issue regarding the liberties that our country was founded on. If there is enough evidence to deny them their natural right to purchase a firearm then lock them up!

So. Here's the rub. So, I'm a special agent investigating someone and I have them on the no fly list. They don't know. That person tries to buy a gun, get denied and told it's because of the no fly list.

Thanks state of Maryland and Connecticut. You just threw a monkey wrench in my investigation.

Wouldn't they know if they tried to fly?

Chances are high they are already doing this on 4473s too. That's how they know people on the list are buying guns.

    That's exactly it.

During a Senate hearing last week, Dick Durbin, Illinois Dem, asked FBI Director James Comey, "...if someone on the no fly list walks into a licensed firearms dealer in the United States that in and of itself is not a prohibition against that person buying a firearm, correct? So, if even that person is suspected to be a terrorist they can purchase a firearm and leave with it though your agents may then follow them, investigate them or keep an eye on them because of that purchase."

    Comey said that was right.

Legal authority and laws. Pshaw, that's for little people, not the Emperor. :mad54:

Why would illegal use of a Federal database ever stop the MSP LD?

No gun for being on the "watch or no fly list"?

Adolph approves... But he actually like Obamas Brown Shirts...

I have no issues with stopping purchase on someone who is under LEGITIMATE investigation for any felony crime, treason, terrorism or sedition... And REMOVE THEM from that list if/once the investigation is close as unfounded.

But to arbitrarily create a "government watch list" with nothing more than the ONE's whim... is contrary to the COTUS and should NEVER be allowed.

Plan D? Not worth the hassle.
See they have already been doing this... Unlawfully, no doubt, for years..under the broad category of other investigation. But knowing that the list is not perfect..its used as just one tool.. A guide..

Now the nit wits propose it..so now they endanger the entire process..

    Thank god for stupid sometimes..

The first rule of secret enemies list..is don't talk about secret enemies list ..

My GF put her son voluntarily on the list so her ex could not take him out of the country. When he is 18 next year she was going to remove him from the list. But I heard that once you are on, it is very hard to get off. So would he also have issues getting a firearm?
