    Hello everyone,
I've been dying to post things for the past few months but had log in troubles, thanks to Tim Montoya, I'm back, thanks Tim!

Tim was gracious enough to give us notes about the Oct. 20th review. I am in shock and disbelief but hope it's true that they agreed to lift my permit to carry restrictions, I've been fighting it for 4 years now. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know that I have not received a single letter in the mail or a new permit, phone call, etc. I don't know why the delay but I know I'm not the only one waiting.

This is why the Soviet Union fell apart. Everything was run by government with zero efficiency or incentive for service. If they ruled that long ago and nary a communication, how absurd.

The board did mention that the meeting minutes from the 10/20 meeting haven't been given back to them for review. This came up during the most recent meeting on 12/01.

so how does the process work? they make a decision at a review board meeting, get the notes eventually to review again, then execute their decisions?

The decision is made, the board must put their decision in writing to the MSP. I am unsure if the decision goes to the applicant and the MSP at the same time or if the board send the decision to the MSP and then they notify the applicant with a letter and the corrected permit.

This does go to show that someone WITH a permit had their case voted on in public. Meanwhile this past week not only did the board decide to vote in private on my case, but I was not afforded the opportunity to waive my rights to a private vote, but I was not afforded the opportunity to attend the closed session where my case was deliberated and voted.

The letter is supposed to go to both the msp and applicant within 30 days of the review.

Could possibly be that it is 30 business days. We did have Thanksgiving in there and I would guess they count Thursday and Friday as holidays. I think your 30th was on the 4th of this month, so maybe you will have it tomorrow or Tuesday. Mail is notoriously slow from the HPRB office and the MSP.

Unless otherwise specified in authorizing statute, all mention of days in Maryland law refer to calendar days.

The only review concerning lifting permit restrictions during that meeting was for a private detective and the vote was 3-1 overturning MSP IIRC.

If that's you I'm shocked you haven't heard from the HPRB/MSP by now....:sarcasm:

and if that is the case, the issue is getting the proper minutes together and writing the letter to MSP. The board just recently realized that no communications had been sent to MSP and is working on trying to figure out who needs letters.

Back in up a minute........ Does that mean the HPRB feels private detectives or even people doing armed security gigs should have no restrictions? I would think since these people encounter same unsavory individuals as many of the police do the same level of self protection could be expected.

Call MSP or the DPSCS and ask where your decision is. It has been way over 30 days.

I called the Handgun Review board and was informed that the person remembers my case but wasn't sure where it was in the process and would eventually get back to me. I was told that there are delays past the standard 30 day process due to the review board needing to review the notes from the review board meetings.
