The thread title is mislead. Wisconsin does not want to ban semi-autos, four elected officials do. This isn't legislation, it's a press release.

Never let the truth get in the way of sensationalism.

Another story said the four officials were going door to door demanding owners give them their semi-automatic guns.

I bet this is in response to the rise in violence in Milwaukee. While the article states a 2013 statistic for gun violence, Milwaukee is currently ranked as having more homicides than Baltimore. My parents tell me I've moved up :sad20:

I don't think it will pass either. The Judge can easily use yesterday's game for an example of how well people in Wisconsin can hit their targets. They are better off throwing their Microsoft surface at their target.

    Too soon?

    Easily 600,000 gun deer hunters.

This is from lib madison, home of liberals, progressives, socialists, commies and dippy hippies.

House, senate and governor are republican.

Posturing from madison legislators, nothing more.

    Kind of humorous.

Definitely. My home state in which I eventually went to college in Madison, starting off in the dorms. During hunting season, one of the (in state) guys in the dorm brought back a deer and processed it in the communal showers. Shocked the out-of-state guys, but there were two sets of showers/bathrooms per floor on either side of a central elevator, so they had an alternative - not that the hunter (a big, red-haired fellow that also bow hunted brown in Alaska) left any mess.

Funny how the word "Madison" popped into my head before I even had a chance to click on the article. College town legislators (no offense to fidelity :) )

Not sure what statistic they were telling me then. Maybe that just goes to show you what people are thinking.

Your parents were talking about the rise in homicides. Baltimore, St. Louis, and Milwaukee are often mentioned in the same breath when comparing increases in 2015 ...

None taken. Plenty of moderate, libertarian, and conservative students make it to Madison. When I was there, the Badger Herald (a conservative student newspaper) was so popular as a weekly pub that it became daily to compete with the 100-year old, left leaning Daily Cardinal - and eventually surpassed it in circulation (permanently). It was during the Reagan era. The Onion started there a couple years later as well - initially with a stronger libertarian sentiment mocking the mainstream media.

Extremely liberal during the Vietnam war - the prior daily rag, the Cardinal - condoned the anti-war bombings on campus that killed a postdoc and helped whip up anti-government sentiment there. This was one reason the Badger Herald got its start in 1969, and when initially struggling, was aided financially through the actions of William F. Buckley. It was circa 1986 when the Herald became popular enough to become a daily, eventually surpassing the Cardinal in circulation.
