Updated "Deep Creek Snow Fly" Karma Contest Rules...

Please read Post #1. No big change, but before someone predicts "every day from here to eternity" (nobody has), only one valid prediction per MDS member!

Your predictions still must be posted > 14 days prior to the actual measured snowfall - AND -> the MDS Member must have > 50 posts at the time of his prediction .

I think that is all pretty clear.

Fairness requires a "base line". Since there is a deck post directly outside my office door - and I always have a camera and ruler handy - we will use the spot in the pic below as our measuring point. When the day comes the 3" point on the ruier is covered by snow... we'll have a WINNER... (Provided someone has predicted that date...;))

As you can see by the "control" pic below we have not yet reached even the 3% mark!

When will the snow fly in Deep Creek?

After analyzing the past 10 years of data from Wisp,

checking the calendar for family birthdays,

consulting with a friend who works for NWS,

throwing darts at a calendar and

noting that 2 people have already picked Dec. 3.

I’ll have to say Thursday December 24, 2015, Christmas Eve, will be the first time you see over 3” of snow.

That's one helluva SWAG, Tom! Coming from a true Hooligan friend who clearly put some analysis behind your prediction!

It would be cool if you're right. That would mean we would officially have a White Christmas. :D

    November 5th

Well, 59f100292, since tomorrow is November 5th and the NWS forecast for Deep Creek is below. It looks like you are out.

Partly sunny, with a high near 68

But, you would have been excluded anyway. Why?
-> Because you did not have 50 posts when you made your prediction. Read the rules.
-> And you made your prediction on November 1 which was only 3 days ago... NOT > 14 days in advance.

If you'd have engaged in the MDS forum more in the past three years and read the Karma rules you might have had better luck... :innocent0
