    Now that I screwed up (or was misled by Cabela's) & bought some .22 win mag ammo, I guess that's as good a reason to get a new rifle as any. So, from those of you that know, what's a good rifle to get in that caliber?

    Yeah I got sucked into that deal at Cabelas also but I already have a 22 mag rifle. It's a Marlin 883 bolt action and if had it for years.

    You too, huh

    That never would have happened a couple of years ago.

    The price would have alerted you, now not so much!:D

    How much was the .22 mag ammo going if it was a good deal?

    It was $11.99 but Cabelas had a picture of a box of winchester 333 22lr ammo and most of us didn't bother to read the description of it. I know I didn't as I was getting ready for work and just hit "add to cart"!

    I got a ruger american in 22 LR last year. Love it so much I got another one in 17. Very much wpth looking at. Nice flush fit rotary mag, super accurate. Also, if you get the short barrel, you can still get the full size stock butt for about $20 if needed. I sold my savage 17 to get the ruger. I suspect the 22mag will be a shooter as well.

    Several choices.

    Maybe pick up a CZ rifle with extra barrels. You can easily swap barrels and switch from .22LR, to .17, to .22 Mag (have to pull a filler block out of the mag well and need new mags).

    Savage 93 22 WMR. My 93 GL likes the 30 grain Hornady and CCI V-Max bullets. Here is a photo when I was trying to find what loads the rifle liked before I finally sighted it in (once I got used the accu-trigger on this rifle, I been able to cut the group size in half);

    A stainless steel Ruger Single Nine with fiber optic sights ...

    http://www.gunsandammo.com/reviews/ruger-single-nine-review/

    with 357 mag type velocities from a pistol, it's flat shooting and accurate. A 9-shot revolver is cool too.

    Or maybe a Henry lever rifle ...

    I like the second octagon barreled option. Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore has them in stock for nice prices with the option of a custom serial number right now ...
