I live in Clifton on the Potomac and I have had this ground hog living under my shed for about A year now. I have shot him A few times with my pellet gun but it only pisses him off. So I went out and bought some CCI CB 22 Short from Walmart loaded up my old Rem Model 12C rifle that I just bought this past weekend and waited in the heat and humidity, fortunately I did not have to wait long he popped his head out from under my shed and I popped him in the head with my old Rem (First shot ever with this ammo and with this rifle) it did take 2 shots to kill him but problem is now solved. I have never used CB ammo before It is the greatest thing in the world if you want to snip something it actually makes less noise then my Pellet gun does I was amazed.

Good shooting Ed... were you using CB shorts because of noise concerns?

I have tried them in my Henry, but they don't always feed right every time.

I'm going to buy some longs and try them in my 10/22. I realize that I will have to cycle the bolt manually. I have a friend with a groundhog problem. I plan on getting him to the range to practice and then lending him my gun to get rid of the problem he's been trying to solve for months with cages, stink bombs, and even some silly bubble gum rumor that I didn't quiet understand or believe.

uhh, i'd personally try to use something that wouldn't hurt the thing so much but just dispatch the critter somewhat humanely....like a spiked club or a gun of signifigant calibre

They're some tough critters. I've tried to get a big one with a .22lr before and it was disturbing how many rounds it took.:sad20: YMMV, but personally I won't use .22lr anymore, but my .22WMR dispatches them readily without that centerfire crackle that the neighbors love soooo much. Take them as quick as possible with a sure, well aimed shot. If you have any humanity left, you'll hate to see them writhing in pain. (Even though they are a hideous creature.) If they move while you're shooting, it's their fault.;)

I've had a family under my shed for years...my wife thinks they're cute (they were here before we bought the house and for years the original owners had it) and won't let me touch them. To complicate matters I don't think I could shoot them where I live in AA anyhow.

Yes he was digging up under the foundation blocks of my shed and digging holes under my fencing constantly. Why should I have not shot him

Sorry I forgot the Safety orange :sad20: please don't don't tell anyone.

Half-Cocked; yes the reason I used the CB short was for Noise concerns but do plan to get the Longs next time CCI web sight says they are the same load in a longer case.

futureseabee4usn; You can get this stuff from Walmart.

I believe there is also a 1200fps rule on the firearm being used.
