Is it legal to conceal carry in public a rifle without a conceal carry permit (which is for handguns only I think) like having the rifle in a discrete carrying case?
"It is a crime to wear or carry openly any rifle or shotgun with the intent or purpose of unlawfully injuring any person.
It is unlawful for any person without a permit to wear or carry a handgun, openly or concealed, upon or about his person, or to knowingly transport a handgun in any vehicle traveling on public roads, highways, waterways or airways or upon roads or parking lots generally used by the public. This does not apply to any person wearing, carrying or transporting a handgun within the confines of real estate owned or leased by him, or on which he resided, or within the confines of a business establishment owned or leased by him. It sounds like this is saying you can conceal carry a rifle as long as you don't have the intent of injuring any person.
Applied 9-27-13, interview in mid-October, heads up email in January that although I'm a surgeon involved in care of gang related ballistic injuries I would be disapproved for lack of G&S. Received the disapproval letter yesterday . . . Lets see if the informal review goes anywhere . . .
Just got my permit in the mail today. Applied 9/26, interview 12/16, recieved 2/20
UPDATE: Requested a modification of my restriction in December. Immediately got a denial letter back in the mail. I requested an informal review and went to Pikesville for a meeting two weeks ago. Rcd. updated permit today with the addition of "or while transporting valuables for business clients". My request was based on the considerable amount of confidential information I carry about my clients including S.S. #'s, credit card #'s, alarm system/lock box codes, property inventories (including lists of firearms w/ serial #'s, jewelry, precious metals, etc.). The paper/electronic confidential information was worthless to MSP for G&S despite the fact that I have clients that are O'Malley appointees running state wide agencies. The moment that I said I am often called upon to transport jewelry, guns, coins, etc. out of buildings that have been compromised by fire or pipe bursts I was immediately told "we can work with that". Now if I were a crook I would certainly rather have the info. to steal someones identity or deactivate the alarm system on their home or business but hey that's just me. I really do feel sorry for the guys working in MSP licensing because they know how ridiculous the stuff they have to tell us is but their hands are tied by the Governors appointee, their boss.
Well that's good news, congrats!
What were your original restrictions if you don't mind me asking?
Getting ready to finally submit my application for MD carry permit. For my G&S, I am stating I own a retail business and involved in financial transactions.
I also do in-home training in areas that are not very desirable. Do you think I should add that as well to my G&S or just the retail business and involved in financial transactions?
Also wondering if I should send along a letter from my bank that I have open accounts and active cash flow and a copy of my business license? Any other documentation suggested?

Thanks for the heads up. That is something that I could do or possibly do but never thought to add it.
