I was at the Whitemarsh location tonight and they had everything except 22. They had plenty of 9mm and 223 though. They also don't put a limit on how many boxes you buy except for 22.

All of their prices suck though. I couldn't believe they were charging $31 for 50 rounds of UMC.

Stopped in Towson WM-on Puttty Hill Ave-Wed nite and they had about a dozen cans of 5.56 and lo and behold, about 12 Win 333 boxes of .22LR. I almost never go in that store because they usually don't have anything.

Looks like ammo is getting back in stock now and prices are returning to normal.

The only ammo I needed during the drought was pistol training and IDPA rounds; which I found a private supplier at good prices. Thankfully I was able and heeded the advice of many in this forum years ago and bought just enough ammo years ago to get me through the last several years. Also helped that I cut back so much in shooting, really stretched the ammo I had. I'm hoping prices keep dropping I could use a few cases of common calibers for future training. I think Barry is done trying to take our rights, we probably have a couple more years of 'normality' before they seize upon the next tragedy to try again.

Might be about time for us thrifty folks to start considering stocking up again. I'm going to wait a little longer.

I haven't been involved long enough in shooting to remember the last shortage so I was caught off guard when all this went down. I was perfectly happy picking up a couple boxes on my way to the range without thinking about having a stock on hand.

I think we aren't quite there yet from a pricing standpoint to get that stockpile going. I won't find myself in this spot again in the future.

Prices have come down. That same ammo can that is now $200 were going for $240 a month ago. Maybe after another month of them not selling, they will drop again.:fingerscrossed:

I'm pretty sure the Columbia Walmart only had a quantity restriction on .22.

That was Wednesday....You were two days too early.

I was checking out on Friday night around 9pm when the store manager came up to the sporting goods associate and told him that there was no longer any restrictions on ammo purchases except for .22. There is stil la 3 box limit on that.

Walmart in Dundalk still has probably 6-8 cans of 5.56 and a good amount of everything else except .22 the problem is the prices 40 S&W was kind of expensive to me, it's cheaper to just buy it at freestate when I go which is funny to me

They still can't keep 22lr in stock.

Ain't that the truth. Every time I've gone there, .22lr is out of stock. When I ask someone who works in the sporting goods area (that speaks English - not joking in the least), they always say it's sold out within a couple hours of the store opening.

It's frustrating because their prices for anything under 200 rounds is better than I can find online when shipping costs are added.

The Columbia Wal-Mart has a three box restriction on everything. I tried buying more than three boxes of .45acp and was denied.

Their policy may have changed, but nobody's informed their employees.

Would you happen to know when Columbia Walmart gets their ammo in? I've been stalking the app for a few weeks now with no luck. PM me if you don't wanna give up the secret :)

Yea, the store manager just informed the employee in the sporting goods section at the Whitemarsh location last night at 9pm while I was there.

To bad Wal Mart prices suck right now or maybe I would have bought more than a couple boxes.

No worries, I want everyone to be able to get the ammo they need. Unfortunately, I don't know because I've never been able to get a straight answer from an employee. The only way to find out would be to go every day until the employees get sick and tired of you!

For an interesting experiment, Google: cost of ammo by caliber

Click on the very first hit, glance it over. Interesting eh?

Now take a look at this (since we are talking mostly 5.56): http://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=111665

Prices have come down, and I'm hoping they are going to go down a little further. If you are not already sitting on a case per gun, about now might be a good time to start stocking up. Just like precious metals, once the price hits a certain point; a lot of people will start buying again.

Most firearms training can be done without shooting any live ammo. There are plastic guns (often called blue-guns) which are great for basic safety, fundamental tactics/holster work and weapon retention.

Laser trainers are great for marksmanship and point shooting practice. Also helps to train a shooter to shoot with both eyes open.

Airsoft is best for role-playing and scenarios. Probably the most fun too. Then there's air guns for great marksmanship shooting and varmints.

    Airsoft-Gun-Anatomy.jpg

Then we get to shooting .22LR (lethal), which is also great and a fraction of the cost.

    Handgun_collection.JPG

Then why do you need to shoot a real, full caliber firearm? Mostly recoil management; how fast you can shoot and get each subsequent shot back onto target, and actual firearm manipulation. If the average person is diligent about the other forms of training, they probably only need a few hundred rounds per year (500-1000) to maintain a reasonable level of proficiency.

You just can't simulate real recoil and firearm manipulation/stress without a real firearm, and that costs money.

This morning my Walmart in Oakland, MD told me the 3 box limit was lifted yesterday except for .22 rimfire. They had nothing I really needed, but I bought 4 boxes of Tula 223 just because I "could".
