Couldn't be true - guns, even empty cartridges, are illegal in DC! So it must have just been some gang bangers pulling an Adam Kokesh moment in protest of their infringed rights.

And this is a area of the city that is demanding sky high rent and real estate prices. Bringing the hood to the hipsters.

It was 2 guys in a shoot-out. I read the report, they hit literally everything but each other.

    But, but, but ...

This can't be true. DC's gun control laws make this kind of senseless violence illegal. Someone should arrest these neer-do-wells, or at least blame it all on the inanimate objects that littered the African American Civil War Memorial and Museum metro stop with 60+ shell casings.

And, fixating on inanimate objects isn't limited to guns ...

Frank Smith, the museum’s director, said he was relieved that the bullets missed, by about 10 feet, a panel from the 128th regiment, Colored Infantry, which was formed in South Carolina. One of its soldiers, Caesar Cohen, ran away from a plantation to enlist. He was Michelle Obama’s great-great-grandfather.

    “That would’ve been a tragedy,”
    Smith said.

No Mr. Smith, it would have been a tragedy if yet another innocent DC resident would have been killed or wounded. Like you said ...

“Anything can be fixed,” Smith said. “And we will fix this. It’s a national monument. It can’t stay like this for long.”

Any idea what type of firearms? Was 60 rounds a good estimate or embellishment. I haven had many if any mopes or signal 7 's carrying extra mags. What's the slang term for DC's criminal element?

No I just briefly read it. Also 60 rds isn't that uncommon every Sunday we used to recover 50-150 in the exact same parking lot after the gogo. I went to one where they shot 150 7.62x39 out of a car at another car and none of the occupants were hit.

Extended mags......known in the hood as a "leg" are quite common.

Absolute BS. As stated above, guns are illegal on the street. Negligent discharge of illegal guns is illegal. Brandishing illegal guns is illegal. Attempted murder is illegal. Need I go on?

How many of the guns/people involved went through the draconian checks and hoops the DC government put into place to prevent this crap? I'm going with the educated guess of "None."

Wouldnt bringing the hood back to the hipsters be more accurate?

Frankly, I used to love the old U Street and strangely felt safer before the gentrification.

That said, isnt this an everyday occurance in DC?

Doesn't matter. This stuff will continue to be blamed on "loosened gun laws," "the gun show loophole," and gun shops in Virginia.

They might use sights but until they understand the physics involved of shooting at a moving car/from a moving car and lead their targets appropriately, they will continue to endanger the public at large. When they figure it out, they can thin the criminal herd out a bit. Win/win.

Yes you have a different type of criminal in DC. Worse than what I dealt with in Bladensburg and on a whole other level than what I have had to deal with in Silver Spring so far.
