    The Skeptic
10-year old Johnny Jones suspended for shooting imaginary arrow

How about these nut case zero-tolerance school officials be reduced to imaginary jobs?

We have highlighted here many times the almost insane “zero tolerance” policies at school wherein students are disciplined, suspended and expelled for biting a Pop Tart into the shape of a gun, bringing Quarter coin-sized gun keychain charms to school, and even pointing a pencil and saying “bang.”

    Now another case...

According to the South Eastern School District’s Zero Tolerance policy for “Weapons, Ammunition and other Hazardous Items,” the district prohibits the possession of “weapons,” defined as including any “knife, cutting instrument, cutting tool, nunchaku, firearm, shotgun, rifle and any other tool, instrument or implement capable of inflicting serious bodily injury.” The Student Code further prohibits any “replica” or “look-alike” weapon, and requires that the school Principal immediately contact the appropriate police department, complete an incident report to file with the school Superintendent, and begin the process of mandatory expulsion immediately.

Next thing you know kids will have to wear a straight jacket to school.

You would think people would get more for their money.:sad20:

When I was in school, I never even wanted to get a lunch detention. Nowadays it seems like its getting to the point a single day suspension is a your kid did something wrong so we will inconvenience the parents, freebie to play Xbox all day.

Its the same thing they've been doing with the global warming BS for 35+ years since it was switched over from global cooling. Teach the kids. Make it part of their foundational belief system: guns are bad; all guns are bad; guns are taboo; all thoughts of guns must be abolished; if you break these rules you are a villain. When they grow up they will not even question it until its too late.

    Teach your kids to shoot.

Can't even say the word gun at my brother's son's school. You have to say, "blaster" or face suspension.

This sh*# needs to be taken up at the Supreme Court fast. It's getting out-of-hand.

meanwhile at my school, I, and my students, are routinely punched, kicked, pushed, and spit on by frequent flier kids...only to have them brought back to class 5 minutes later with a "they are ready for learning now" from the admins. We had a kid bring a backpack full of knives to school to sell to other kids, a boy hold up a rifle cartridge to an adult and say "you're next", and numerous kids assaulting their classmates and teachers with none of them being suspended. Good times.

I will say what I always say when these things pop up. The world of education is run by liberals and largely staffed by liberals because they are the ones getting in to the profession. If you disagree with how schools are being run, or what they are teaching, get on the school board or become a teacher. Complaining isn't going to do anything.

I understand your frustration. Since the federal government is involved in education funding they will still be calling the shots.

About the best someone can do these days is pick a good private school or home school AND be involved in the child's education.

Sounds like a school is needed where kids (lets be reasonable here,, over the age of 6?) are required to carry a pocket knife and target practice at the indoor range is at least 3 days a week.
