I was blessed today with this dominant buck. He was leading 10 does. 8 point, well balanced rack, taken at 125 yards. Washington County.

Private land that I lease from a friend. About 200 acres. Shot him with a Remington 700, 9X scope, 180 grain 30.06 round. He got my heart racing. He looked huge running along with his rack up high. He was tough looking and leading a pack of 10 does. I threw off my gloves and binoculars as soon as I spotted him, raised my rifle and shot all within 5 seconds. I wasnt gonna waste time and let him get away. It was my biggest buck yet. I am doing a European mount. I cant afford a full mount. This is one I will remember for a long time.

Don't forget that the scope was a Tasco. I am still trying to get over that thread.

Great job with the buck. There are some nice deer in Washington County.

I actually remember all my antlered bucks as if they were yesterday.

It is all good. Whatever gets the job done, and it appears that rifle got the job done just fine. When I first started deer hunting some 23 years ago, I was using a 20+ year old Savage .30-06 with some POS 4x scope on it. Killed my first deer 15 minutes after getting on the stand. The rifle and scope worked just fine and I still have the rifle, which is my dad's rifle, which is older than me. My uncle started deer hunting with me at the same time and he was using a Walmart gun that included the scope in the package. It worked just fine too.

FYI - whatever anybody makes is "real money". We all have different priorities in life.

Look at me now. I have a fancy rifle, and I was at home all weekend and not out hunting with it. lol

A nice Washington County buck. Here is another Washington County 8 point, taken on my property at Indian Springs, with my trusty old Savage 99F, .308. Now it's on to PA for opening day. Good luck to all the hunters, be safe.

I have a Tasco scope on my .270 its been on there at least 13yrs I don't remember when I put it on exactly...but its killed a lot of different stuff in that time..its still working so I'll keep it. I think with anything man made you get some good stuff and some not so good stuff. Ive been very happy with my Tasco scope so far.:D
