I have spent about $1,500+ with him in the last year.
I bought two guns from him and had work done on two others as well as supplies ammo etc.
He was always friendly but a little to much of a smart ass for me with lots of off color jokes that never really bothered me. Hey I had no problems doing buisness with him even though he had some real weird store hours out of his Bowie home.
About 4 1/2 months ago while picking up a Springfield 1911 I had him do some work on he showed me a tricked out custom SS Springfield 1911 from his "private collection"
He tells me how much work was done to it blah , blah , blah and really starts laying down a world class "SHAM WOW" sales pitch.
I admit it was a nice 1911 and I liked it but for $1,000 + transfer fees and tax it was way over what I could afford and I and told him so.
So then he goes into how I could come back and put a deposit on it and make payments for up to 6 months .
He then starts a hard sell ...kind of aggressive and how I could never find a better pistol. It was from his elite "personal collection " etc. etc.
I told him I had some property in FL. and IF I sold it I would come in and buy it.
I never came back to put a deposit on it or ever sold the property.
Fast foreward to a few days ago.
I call him and ask if he can order me a Romanian PSL-54C from AIM. "sure he say's but you have to do it now because they are almost sold out"
OK I say and he tells me to come in that night after 6PM when he opens to do the paper work.
I get there and he points to that 1911 on his desk and say's "you need to pay for this as well"
I expalin I really am not interested in it and that i told him -->IF<-- I sold my property in FL I would come in and buy it.
He starts shaking and goes off shouting how he has been holding that gun for me for months and that he could have sold it over a dozen times because people come in every day looking for .45's and acting all irate.
I say "well then at least it won't be hard to sell to someone else and I never put a deposit on it"
This makes him crazy and wild eyed.
I say "look I told you it was only if...."
He jumps in and cuts me off about "I don't care about your property sales" and "I run a buisness" and that "You should pay for the 1911 and the Romanian he ordered on his credit card for me now".
He then throws the paper work at me and say's "here you fill it out I'm to upset to write"
I scratched a few things down and then walked out quick.
I figure this is this guy's house and not a "real" buisness.
He has bragged about being a wounded combat Vietnam Vet and he has a pistol on his hip , he's so mad he's shaking and it's his home.
I don't say what I want which is kiss my ass I'm not buying sqat from you now or ever.
I keep my mouth shut and get the hell out quick.
I can honestly say I was worried this guy was going to wig out and do something crazy.
I get home and call him and tell him to cancell the order and hang up before he can speak.
This guy is nut's and flaked out on me.
I would advise any other members here to beware of doing buisness with this guy.

My first and last contact or "experience" with him was over the phone. When I asked about transfers, he stated $100 PLUS 10% OF WHAT EVER I PAID FOR THE FIREARM IF IT WAS OVER A CERTAIN DOLLAR AMOUNT!

Needless to say, that was my first and FINAL conversation with him. He's just a tad whacked.

    Yikes!!

If he bothers you at all in the future...so much as a phone call...I'd drop a dime on him.

Thanks for an actual run down on why you are not going back. I have seen people complain about him here and there but it was mostly in vague terms, this was very helpful.

My first firearm purchase ever was from Lou, about 3 years ago I bought a Henry Rifle and he was very professional and the transaction was smooth.

The first time venturing up his stairs past his old lady sittin there in the kitchen was a little weird though.

Since joining this forum and reading around I'm starting to think I got real lucky in having a normal transaction with Lou.

i liked lou and have done a fair bit of business until about 2 months ago. I refered a coworker to have a simple repair done on a shotgun. long story short 2 months and lots of run around and no repairs, took it to a guy in my gun club by the name of john leiber and he did a great job at an awsome price. i think lou is really starting to loose it and his buddy steve is an ass hat as well

agent orange acting up on him...you know if i was gun dealer and really wanted your business and return business I would have called and see if you wanted it held or were just looking and could sell it...if you didnt want it no big deal someone else will come along and buy it...just as a courtesy. no need for him to get all mad because you really didnt put anything down! now i would have given you maybe a week...but first come first served unless you put money down!

creepy story. I don't think I would ever buy from someone who runs a gun business from home anyhow.

ive bought a few guns from guys that ran business out of their homes...or property rather....its more personable to me...i still have my sig i bought used from a guy two states ago! and its still a good gun! if im ever in the area again and hes still got a business open i'll definitely look him up...but ya to be all pissy with the customer i would have left right away!

These cracks about Vietnam vets are just below the belt.

I don't agree with "cracks " about vets.
I respect the sacrifice all vets have paid including my father who was a WWII combat Vet.
So I have some expierence with the tempers of some people who have been through "it" and when to walk soft.
On the other hand the only reasons I included that in my post about how he was a Vietnam Vet was because:
    1. He talked about it every time I was there.
2.Post tramatic stress syndrome for combat vets is real and I don't know that there is an expiration date for it.
    3. He was visably irate and acting highly pissed about a situation that was uncalled for .
    4. We were in his home and people tend to act more agressive when in any type of confrontation or argument in their own home.
    5. He was strapped and angry to the point his hands were shaking .

This could be advantageous. I wonder, if I offer to sell him my P38 with an awesome made-up Vet Bring Back story, if he'll pay me 3x what I paid for it to add it to his personal collection.

I wasn't referring to you and and understand your concerns.

The other people who made references to Agent Orange I doubt have ever dealt with Lou and I don't think those cracks are called for.

As far as I know Agent Orange has never been linked to anything other than cancer and servicemen that were exposed to it had no say in the matter. In fact I believe they were told it was not toxic to humans.
