So the other day, Mrs. Safetech was talking about wanting a WASP knife. (She watches too much TV)

I know she was just BSing. But just for S&Gs, I looked them up and told her the price. To which she replied, "F*** that! I miight as well just get another gun!" (Gotta love a woman that can cuss like a sailor *in the apporpriate setting*. She's the youngest of seven and only girl!)

Well, I'll take that as an invitation!

As a self-proclaimed Polock herself, I've been thinking it would be neat to get her a Polish C&R gun.

I would like to keep it to a handgun caliber that we already use like 9x19 or 9x18.

I tried someone's P64 at the range, and I wasn't crazy about it. As others have said, it's too "snappy". (She would probably hate it.)

I would prefer it not be a Nazi associated gun. But it's not a deal breaker.

She currently has (and likes) a Ruger SR9 and an LC9, and a Bersa Mod.85 .380.

    Suggestions?

P-83 Wanad. It's Polish, it's 9x18, it's way more ergonomic and less painful that the P-64. It's single stack, so even someone with small hands can maintain good control. It's not the prettiest pistol, but it's my favorite shooter.

And before anybody says it, no, I don't want one of these...

I take it they're not C&R eligible? (But that's okay. I'll just go through a regular FFL?)

It's not the caliber that you are specifying, but my rather small wife really likes shooting her Romanian Tokarev. It took her a little while to work her way up to it, but that's mostly because of noise, and not recoil. Now she loves it. It has a fairly thin profile grip that fits her hands.

The Polish version of the pistol is the same ... but generally is a bit nicer in finish.

My favorite Polish C&R gun is not a handgun. It's my WZ48 Mosin 22LR training rifle. If it matters to you, shooting ranges often let you shoot 22LR rifles at the pistol lanes.

    IMHO a no-brainer, the VIS wz 35!

    Concur. And awesome rig BTW.

Prices have gone ballistic (no pun intended) lately though, and both examples in this thread are superb. Lucky to find one in that condition under $1k nowadays. If you do let me know :) And a complete rig with correct mags... hoo-boy! A pre-war, un-Nazi Eagle is insane $$ (upwards to 3K and even 4K for 98+%) and shouldn't be a range gun anyway due to rarity/value IMHO. The ones found in the $500-600 range are usually pretty sad. The earlier "3-lever" are typically better fit & finish. Only complaint is the recoil spring assembly isn't easy to get back together again (oh, it comes apart easily enough). Need 3 hands and eye protection... but a high quality super-cool pistol (in 9mm Parabellum).

Just saw this on GB, might be the ticket (no collector value but good range gun?)

So if OP doesnt want a nazi pistol this relegates him to an eagle. Bring 3-5k. If you dont want a nazi marked vis because hitler was a bad man and killed 12 million people, he was a pu$$y. Stalin killed over 50 million. So any post 1939 polish pistol is completely off the table as far as c&r.

I too prefer not to own ex-Nazi firearms. Loathsome SOBs that they were, their artifacts have only repugnance for me.

Sorry if others disagree with me; buy whatever you want. But permit me to mourn the world's losses in my own fashion.
