Same here on the price per pound. Everything I have been getting from Fred's is always $24.99 or $29.99 I use Hodgdon Clays, HS-6, H-110, and H-4350. None of them have been more than $29.99 / Lb.

I noticed most of the 1 pound jars Bob had was $31.00 or more. Then he charges a $3.00 shipping fee, Plus Tax, so, one pound costs you $34.00 + Tax. That's $4 - $5.00 more than Fred's, but, Bob has powders. Many powders. I was impressed with his stock, but, he's not cheaper than Fred's.

As a side note I let the $3.00 Shipping slide without question. I figure If I paid $3.00 for a HazMat charge on a 4 pound jug of powder that's a whole lot better than paying $15.00 to $27.50 for a pound like most places charge. $3.00 is a big favor the way I see it.

I've known Bob for many, many years.

What everyone needs to understand, is, Bob is NOT in business to GIVE 'stuff' away.
He spreads the HazMat fees across his orders, so that nobody is getting 'hit' with the whole 'bill', and he's not 'stuck' with it, either.

Bob has payments to make, just like the rest of us.

    I could name names, but, I won't.
There are some shops that are charging DOUBLE what the other guys are.
Some shops are trying to make their mortgage payment from EACH customer.
Ever wonder why some shops always have components??????

$100 for a 'brick' of primers????? $45 for a pound of powder?????

(And no, I'm not referring to Fred's, either.)

However, Fred's can kiss a certain part of my anatomy, and that's before I wipe. :D

And that's why I didn't even question the $3.00 I was happy to pay it compared to what it could have been. I feel sorry for anyone who falls for that $27.50 HazMat fee I have seen on another internet retailers site. I laughed and moved on from that site.

I dont think you overpaid at all SOMD, maybe a year ago i would have said you did slightly but not with today's prices/availability.

I will gladly pay Bob a few buck more than to have to deal with Fred's.

Well I don't feel I over paid either. I figure if I ordered a 4 pound jug and had to pay the HazMat That's already $20 to $30.00 over the item price and that's not even including the Shipping. $102.00 for a 4 pound jug picked up versus having it shipped... I won this time. Same with the primers. I would have had to pay two HazMat charges plug two shipping charges because no one will ship Primers and Powders together. Did I over pay ? Hell no. I think I saved about $40.00 or more. I really don't have the time nor the interest what-so-ever in doing the math, but, I don't feel screwed by any means.

I feel sorry for anyone who falls for that $27.50 HazMat fee I have seen on another internet retailers site. I laughed and moved on from that site.

    Falls for??????

That fee is charged by the shippers (UPS and FedEx) to ship hazardous materials. ANY hazardous materials. The retailer is not making money on the HazMat, unless they are charging more than $27.50. ANY shipment of HazMat has that fee. Powder. Primers. Model Airplane Fuel. Some Paints.

Also, you mention before about the charge per pound, it is not, it is per PACKAGE. And you can be shipped up to 50 pounds in a single package. So order in bulk and you get the HazMat fee down to about 55 cents per pound.

Yes. FALLS for it. You know not all retailers charge $27.50 for a HazMat fee. If you pay $27.50 you got suckered. Plain and simple.

I'm full well aware that there is a "hazmat" fee on certain products. You also need to be made aware that different retailers are charging prices all over the board for THEIR "hazmat" fee. This is a hint as to why I stated $15.00 to $27.50

When I am only looking to buy a "pound" of something it is irrelevant what "package" relates to. If I only need a "pound" of product I am not going to buy 10 pounds or 50 pounds just to save a few dollars on HazMat fees.

I appreciate your replies ( in several other threads as well) but you're sort of making points we already know. You may now proceed to follow me to my next thread. I hereby grant you more post count.

Which retailer ships powder without charging the fee?

And are the packages properly marked? Or are they sneaking the hazmat through as normal shipped materials? And that is against Federal regulations if not laws. Especially since if not properly marked, may be carried on aircraft, even passenger aircraft.

I never said that a retailer did not charge the fee. Where you got that I have no idea. I said Between $15.00 and $27.50 You now seem to be making up replies no one else can see. I now allow you one more post count addition.

Sounds like you are on a first name basis with them!!

FWIW........ One shop's name is "Fred's". Fred has been in business since before 1982.
Fred used to own the shop. Now his son, Freddie owns the shop, and Fred's other son, Doug, works there.
(One of the boys told me that "Fred" had passed away. Truth???????)

The other shop is "Maryland ReloadR", and Bob Mancer is the owner of the shop.
Bob has been in business for many, many, MANY years, and is a long-standing member of St. Charles Sportsman's Club.
