Does this coating (Neverwet) have potential use for firearms to maintain/keep/protect ? I would think it would make cleaning a breeze and help protect from rusting but that is just me loving its superhydrophobic ability and not reality. Would this help carbon buildup, penny for your thoughts?

PS You can get the kits from home depot for 20.00 and it has 1000000 different uses otherwise

A similar product, UltraTech 4000 Ultra-Ever Dry, 1 Quart, Translucent White, has been around for a while. This is a big deal because the previous product was about 5-10 times as expensive as the Rustoleum product. You can search the product site and check out their impressive videos.

I see this as the end of GoreTex. You can make your WalMart parka waterproof for a few extra bucks. I don't think the garment would lose its breathability. The Ultra-Ever Dry videos show a treated work glove plunged into mud, and being pulled out almost perfectly clean. It's hard to spend $100 to protect something that cost $1.99 at Horrible Fright, but for $20 and the opportunity to use it on a bunch of other things, I'm sure I'll give it a try.

My idea was to spray it on props and leading edges. It also inhibits the collection of ice on surfaces. It might enhance the performance of a boot or hot prop, or keep a plane not certified for flight into known ice in the air after a chance encounter. You don't know the meaning of terror until you've seen ice start to build up on your wings and canopy.

I saw this stuff a week ago and was amazed. It is available at home depo but only on line. Coat range bags, slings, hats, backpacks. Home use - inside of funnels, drip pans,

I see so many applications for this. Imagine spraying your plug wires and distributor on your classic cars.

I didn't see anywhere in the video where they talked about how long the product lasts, or how long it will protect an item before it degrades. That would be something I'd like to know.

Seems like it could be better than Rain-X for windshields. I don't know if I would trust it on anything needs to "breathe" (like electronics) though........

Saw it in the Westminster Home Depot today. Was thinking, if you spray it on your clothes, how would you clean them later? It repels water, but what about dirt?

Interesting point... I think detergent should be able to break it down. How much does it cost?

I bought a kit yesterday at my local Home Depot (Aberdeen). I already have some plans to try it out on my lawnmower blade and the rims of my car.

I've been trying to think of how I might use it on a firearm and haven't come up with anything. I am not willing to test to see if it can handle the heat and stress of a BCG, I highly doubt that would be a good thing.

I know that you cannot spray clear glass with it such as windshields because it mists to the point that you cannot see through the glass any more. They're supposed to be trying to create a formula that is invisible, but for now, don't spray your windshield if you like being able to see where you're going.

hmmm... yeah, in that case it's definitely not a good idea for windshields. I"ll have to just find random stuff to spray. LOL

Thanks for the tip. A friend of mine has been looking for something to use on his lawn tractor cutting deck to stop the grass from sticking. This may just do the trick.
