The wife came home and was all excited she saw someone open carrying a pistol in food lion on great mills. Now she wants to O C when she goes out next time. This was about 530 tonight

That's in the middle of Section 8 Silly Boy. Off duty policeman or armed security guard.

I'll put my money on the bolded part.

Have yet to ever see an officer open carry when out of uniform in MD. Aside from ranges or call-outs.

sounds like just some crazy mf'er, I know a lot of police here in calvert and none of them ever open carry off duty.

I am plain clothes And sometimes when I get off, I have to run errands. My duty holster is not concealable under a T-shirt (serpa with Xiphos on g22). If I can I will at least try to cover it however sometimes it has to be left out with my Badge visible.

The only time I ever saw someone OCing in public in MD was when there was a group of Baltimore County police officers (in business casual clothes) in a restaurant. Badges were visible as well.

In certain cases you can open cary in md. This may not have been one of them. I always open carry when I am on the farm I lease for hunting but I am hunting and have my huntinglicence with me.
Could this person just moved into the state from some stat that can open carry and he just doesn't know the laws yet.

I'm going security guard.... Of all the LEO's I know (including myself) CC when off duty. We try to blend and having a gun sticking out in plain view is not blending.

saw this in Salisbury chick-fil-A, glock, street clothes, family, unmarked but obvious police SUV outside.
Back when I worked in the prison, I carried a Judge OC in a vertical shoulder holster. carried it this way for several years [always in uniform] Never had any trouble from police or gas station personnel [when I stopped on the way to work or home. Out of uniform I would carry a small semi auto pocket pistol in a pocket holster.

Lots of folks open carry here in Waynesboro, PA. Caught me by surprise when we first moved into the area but its a fairly common sight now.
