I have one in 5.45x39. Excellent rifle all around, and better than the WASRs people keep comparing it to.

Any idea how it compares to the veprs? I'be been eyeballing one of those in 5.45.

They take them out and ship the firearm. Question is how do I get mags and what's the best. I don't even know where to purchase!

I think I read that the Tapco magazines worked well and to steer clear of the ProMag ones. Here's a quote from another AK thread:

For magazines avoid any U.S. made ones they are generally unreliable. Stick with former Combloc steel or if you have the disposable income get polymer Arsenal Circle 10 mags. Bakelite mags are good but are not as durable as the steel or new plastic mags in the long run so are better for collecting.

As far as acquisition, if you know someone who lives in DE, VA, PA then you can buy them and have them shipped to there. Otherwise, take a trip to a DE, VA, or PA gun shop that sells AK mags.

People are talking about paying over $1k in the comments about a month ago. I guess we got a good deal by not panicking.

Yeah, I actually noticed that they said the price went up by $200 almost immediately after they acquired the one they were reviewing. And then of course you had the hysteria and the price increases that went with that...

Tapcos aren't unreliable, they're just more prone to failing if you put a lot of stress on them (ie, smashing them against cover, dropping your rifle mag-first, etc.).

IMHO, just get a bunch of com-bloc steel mags at the next out of state gun show and be done with it.

There's a ton of AK magazines listed on gunbot. I'll wait until I know my gun has been shipped before I start ordering accessories. Never know if it might get cancelled or something.

Somebody posted these a while ago. I haven't been able to try them because I don't have an AK yet. They seem to be in excellent condition. http://centerfiresystems.com/MAGAKA07.aspx

I got some of these as well. They're still waiting for me in Virginia.
