was DeGrange the only one to cave on the filibuster? was his the vote that let it get to the floor?
And Middleton.

thats true, i totally agree. I am not a lawyer, but someone else mentioned that this bill could be challenged Oct 1. A really totally obvious problem could get an injunction that would prevent it from being enforced. I think fingerprints personally are a really obvious problem, (and the fact that they keep the fingerprints on file to check for future crimes seems somehow to violate my 5th amendment rights too). At this point, in retrospect, i almost wish the license fee was $200 or something ridiculous. I almost wish they would REALLY narrow the training so that there is a HUGE bottleneck of people trying to get it. then blame the MD senators. just my offhand thoughts.
And Middleton.
Personally, I never had much hope that our voices would actually be heard. As soon as this bill was drafted I knew it was very likely it would be crammed down our throats whether we wanted it or not.I feel like a lot of people still haven't called/e-mailed/visited anybody, and instead probably saw some of the posts here and thought "this thing will never pass...too many people are opposed to it."

The fight isn't over, but I think it's a losing battle.

Now If the citizenry of MD doesn't send those reps packing, well then.......

Odds are the voting public either A) doesn't care or B) will forget by the time it comes to vote again.
I know MOM wants to run for POTUS in '16 so why does he want to push this BS? It might help in some dem primaries but in the general election he just screwed himself. Even Obama knew this, thats why he kept mum on 2A issues and even signed the national parks carry bill
A good offense would have been a great defense - we did a lot to show them that their constituents don't want these laws. Unfortunately preventing a bad law from being passed is easier than getting a bad law repealed, so if this does pass, we're effectively screwed because by the time these laws get challenged in the courts, Obama will have already stacked the Supreme Court. It depends on how you are defining "a losing battle". Yes, be lost this battle, but overall the war is really just starting.. Even if this is signed by MOM, it's not over.

I'm not shrugging my shoulders by far - I'm simply saying that the House is stacked against us even worse than the Senate. It's not a matter of if it's going to pass - it's going to pass. What's still left in the bill will be the question. Personally, I don't see it getting changed much from what it currently is.Fighting is not about whether you think you can win or lose. If somebody is coming after something you believe in or love, you do whatever you can to fight. Period. You will not win every fight, and who knows, maybe in the end we don't win this one. The opposition will know that they were in a fight either way. The bill has already been watered down from what it started as, and it hasn't even entered the house. Shrugging our shoulders and saying "we aren't going to win, let them do whatever they want" is not an option. We need to continue the fight, which is very far from being over. Especially with what is going on in New York, that should give us all some hope regardless of how things play out here. I know until it is over I will do everything I can to make my voice heard and to swing as much in our favor as possible.

Thanks for the vote list, TACAV. Will be circulating this widely. Time to vote the Senate clean (actually... long past time).
