I believe some of the pompous assholes who orchestrated this whole sickening charade that played out over the past few weeks thinks that this thing is all over. They think that their job is done and they are patting themselves on the back. I think that they have awaken a sleeping giant. I feel like a lot of people still haven't called/e-mailed/visited anybody, and instead probably saw some of the posts here and thought "this thing will never pass...too many people are opposed to it." That is not enough, don't let your brothers and sisters in this fight do all the work. We need EVERYBODY to get involved now and do EVERYTHING possible to fight for our rights. It won't be easy, you will be inconvenienced along the way many time, often times you will be down when things look very bad for us. DON'T GIVE UP! That is what they want and what they are hoping, that they can beat us down and once we lose a few rounds they will break our will and they can continue doing as they wish. Do not let this happen, our rights depend on ALL of us staying in the fight and NEVER giving up. We cannot afford to lose.

I hope my collectors paperwork comes back soon. I have my 5 year plan ready to execute. That is, I'll be purchasing every gun I can assume I want within the next 5 years. That way, I can deal a bit while we fight the hell out of this in court.

thats true, i totally agree. I am not a lawyer, but someone else mentioned that this bill could be challenged Oct 1. A really totally obvious problem could get an injunction that would prevent it from being enforced. I think fingerprints personally are a really obvious problem, (and the fact that they keep the fingerprints on file to check for future crimes seems somehow to violate my 5th amendment rights too). At this point, in retrospect, i almost wish the license fee was $200 or something ridiculous. I almost wish they would REALLY narrow the training so that there is a HUGE bottleneck of people trying to get it. then blame the MD senators. just my offhand thoughts.

For me, it's not about any single part, it's all complete crap. None of this will do anything to prevent what these people say that want to prevent.

Dont wish for for those kinds of things in MD, they are likely to come true here. :D

Personally, I never had much hope that our voices would actually be heard. As soon as this bill was drafted I knew it was very likely it would be crammed down our throats whether we wanted it or not.

The fight isn't over, but I think it's a losing battle.

It depends on how you are defining "a losing battle". Yes, we lost this battle, but overall the war is really just starting.. Even if this is signed by MOM, it's not over.

Now If the citizenry of MD doesn't send those reps packing, well then.......

Fighting is not about whether you think you can win or lose. If somebody is coming after something you believe in or love, you do whatever you can to fight. Period. You will not win every fight, and who knows, maybe in the end we don't win this one. The opposition will know that they were in a fight either way. The bill has already been watered down from what it started as, and it hasn't even entered the house. Shrugging our shoulders and saying "we aren't going to win, let them do whatever they want" is not an option. We need to continue the fight, which is very far from being over. Especially with what is going on in New York, that should give us all some hope regardless of how things play out here. I know until it is over I will do everything I can to make my voice heard and to swing as much in our favor as possible.

Odds are the voting public either A) doesn't care or B) will forget by the time it comes to vote again.

It will be our job not to let them forget. Something tells me we won't forget.

I know MOM wants to run for POTUS in '16 so why does he want to push this BS? It might help in some dem primaries but in the general election he just screwed himself. Even Obama knew this, thats why he kept mum on 2A issues and even signed the national parks carry bill

I think you are right, but that he and his advisors are just that dumb. They are counting on the coasts & big cities voting and everyone else staying home. Cuomo thinks the same thing. The '16 campaign will be hotter than anything we've seen in our lifetimes.

A good offense would have been a great defense - we did a lot to show them that their constituents don't want these laws. Unfortunately preventing a bad law from being passed is easier than getting a bad law repealed, so if this does pass, we're effectively screwed because by the time these laws get challenged in the courts, Obama will have already stacked the Supreme Court.

I'm not trying to be a downer or to rain on anyone's parade, but that's the way it is.

As for getting these clowns out of office, we're screwed there too - the masses are asses and they aren't even aware of exactly who it is they are voting for. The fact that this Nation gave Obama another 4 is proof enough of that.

I wish like hell I could just get out of this state. I come from a place where we don't have tyranny through mob rule, but the likelihood that I'll ever get back there is pretty freaking slim.

I'm not shrugging my shoulders by far - I'm simply saying that the House is stacked against us even worse than the Senate. It's not a matter of if it's going to pass - it's going to pass. What's still left in the bill will be the question. Personally, I don't see it getting changed much from what it currently is.

Maybe we can work an injunction like they are trying for in New York.

So I called Senator Middleton's office this morning and thanked him for supporting us this week as I was under the impression he had been doing. I cannot believe that he betrayed us this way. I will be letting him know that his actions are unnacceptable. Damn it I'm pissed right now.
