I don't believe any of those geniuses listened to any of the testimony from the senators participating in the debate. They are mindless donkeys in my opinion and will only do as they are told by their party affiliation.

Hopefully we will fair better in the House as the Senate is obviously filled with some very close minded people.

I really hope so. The applause really made it obvious that it meant nothing

From what I'm hearing, house chances are slim as well, at least initially.

do we at least have an idea what the vote looks like now? i feel very ambivalent about changing the bill. one the one hand, i want nothing or a watered down version. on the other hand, i want the most restrictive pain-in-the-ass bill possible because it would be easier to challenge and give a big backlash. i ALMOST now want the bill amended in such a way that it provides the most pain to the idiots who passed this (because i am somewhat confident that much of this will get struck down anyway, which would be a win-win).

Can someone conduct a public poll - ask the criminal element in MD if they are for or against SB 281 - I think we all know what the vote would be.
So, anyone who voted for the Bill today could be labeled as voting the same way that a criminal would vote.

If the bill is restrictive our rights could get taken away for years before the courts get to it.

I'd rather it not get to that point for several reasons. If it goes to the Supreme court, the court may well be hard left-leaning by then.

Even if not, how many of us thought Roberts was going to side with Obamacare? Nothing is safe or sacred anymore.

was DeGrange the only one to cave on the filibuster? was his the vote that let it get to the floor?

Yup. If he had voted against cloture, we would've had a filibuster... (though Brochin probably would've voted for cloture if DeGrange hadn't)

I SERIOUSLY hope he brought some vaseline to work with today. :mad54:

thats true, i totally agree. I am not a lawyer, but someone else mentioned that this bill could be challenged Oct 1. A really totally obvious problem could get an injunction that would prevent it from being enforced. I think fingerprints personally are a really obvious problem, (and the fact that they keep the fingerprints on file to check for future crimes seems somehow to violate my 5th amendment rights too). At this point, in retrospect, i almost wish the license fee was $200 or something ridiculous. I almost wish they would REALLY narrow the training so that there is a HUGE bottleneck of people trying to get it. then blame the MD senators. just my offhand thoughts.
