So I've had my C&R for about a year now, but until yesterday I'd never placed an order.

Well I jumped into the pond. I ordered 4 last night and tried to order 2 more tonight. After lurking and lusting after some guns I'd been watching I just pulled the trigger (sorry for the pun).

Only problem is, I used to be able to find Nagant Revolvers and the like all over the place, as in 4-5 sites, and all for $109 or less before shipping. Now I can't find them anywhere. I also can't seem to find the $100 Mosins anymore, and the CZ-82s seem to have gone away as well.

Is it just me or did people buy these up really quickly all of a sudden? I'm asking because I don't know. Does the panic usually strike the C&Rs as well? I'm assuming they'll just be another shipment down the line...?

Hoarders and panicky types buying up the low-end stuff thinking it's TEOTWAWKI. Give it a few months and you'll have plenty to pick from. Patience is king. In the mean time, Classic Firearms has the CZ-82 in stock, along with other C&R guns.

He would have to buy it from them as MD regulated, though. Not really worth the hassle and extra expense for a $100 surplus revolver.

the panic hit C&Rs too, yes.

once everyone got into panic mode, they were ready to buy, when the EBR's mags and ammo ran out they started buying up everything else.

once things die down and the dealers have had some time to restock you'll see a lot of it come back.

it is true however that over the years there are less and less models available, although new stuff hits the market every year too.

you may not be able to get RC k98's and turk mausers and czech 98/22's through retail channels any more, but some years ago there also were no tokarev pistols, CZ-82's, p64's, chinese SKS (C&R ones anyway) type 53's or original snipers.

things come and go, the golden years are obviously behind us, but overall C&R will always be a great deal compared to buying new stuff.

military C&R stuff will of course one day dry up for good, they're not making any more and most guns made in the last half century have been full aut which we cant get, i think what weve been seeing and will continue to see more of is that military pistols will be the big C&R thing in the future, cause those will always be legal (according to current laws) so 50 years from now people may be buying pistols adopted today in foreign countries as C&R surplus.

then theres the slight off chance that machineguns get legalized again, that would create a flood of relatively cheap machine guns hitting the market. one can dream eh?

I wonder if a MD dealer could release a C&R handgun to a licensee if the paperwork doesn't come back in 8 days.

No way. MD law supersedes C&R. It's not getting released until the MSP paperwork comes back with the NICS number, or else the selling FFL risks loss of license and arrest.

Its a few things, people hording the supply. I'm sure some of this is price of the gun and the ammo. The other thing is C&R have honestly seemed to get a lot more popular lately.

I know the Garand orders have increased a lot recently. Could be WWII movies (or grand torino ;-) ) or just the fact that people have caught on to the collectability of them.

Interesting, thanks for all the input guys.

I just thought that my cheap Ruskie guns would be safe from hoarding. Oh well, next time I see a deal I won't hesitate.

Grand Torino jacked the sh*t outta M1 prices. They doubled after that movie came out.

just for the record, yes, the C&Rs have been all bought up from the traditional sources, AIM surplus is even completely out of p-38s and Yugo M57 tokarevs.

Also for the record, cz-82s would be a steal at twice the prices they're being sold for.

Honestly, I find them infinitely adaptable and one of the best concealed carry options out there. It's like a WAY better over engineered Bersa thunder that it's almost impossible to break or shoot out the barrel.

Put it this way, I haven't come across one that wouldn't function, no matter how fugly it looked.

... So you're saying I should wait until the next panic and then buy them all.

But do they sell them with 10 round mags? Or is it 7? How far down the shit-hole will we crawl?

Top Rifle is a Service Grade Special wearing the stock from the second rifle
Second was a Service Grade now wearing the stock from the special
Third is my mostly correct WWII SA which was a Field Grade
The last was a purchase from another member on the board but fits a SG rifle.

And yes I hand select my rifles, in fact I'm making a trip next week to pick a few for some forum members.

If you can make it or have an agent thats the way to do. That way you can focus more on what you want.

They try to make sure everyone is happy and regardless of what you get its a great deal but they pick from the shipping container they are unpacking they don't go searching for rifles. They don't have the time or staffing to do that.
