I am Bob Glotfelty, Secretary of Sanners Lake.

These past few weeks we have been busy processing membership renewals.

We also have 50 or so applications for new memberships and I will be processing them within the next week. I will notify you by email as I process them.

If you were on the list from last year, you will be hearing from me very soon. If you have sent in a new application, or another application, I will process them ASAP.

SLSC voted to expand our membership from 500 to 600 members so there will be many openings.

If you haven't applied, but would like to, download the application from this site and send it in.

If you have any questions, you can post the questions here, or email me at theglot@comcast.net.

Will the rifle ranges be open by the processing date, or are the new members financing the renovations to be done?

Will the pistol range be opened to regular members without being an RSO?

Sent to your email as well.

    Hello -

I've emailed, but would like to have it recorded on the forums.

I am going to be gone for each member orientation class.

I was stated in the email that more classes will be scheduled in mid/late July.

    Is this the case?

I would be able to make any class after the last week in June and first week in July.

    Thank you.

    Answering on behalf of BobG...

Will the rifle ranges be open by the processing date, or are the new members financing the renovations to be done?

The rifle range design is complete and the excavation work is done. The construction bids are due-in this week, with award anticipated by this weekend. Completion of construction and reopening should take 4-5 weeks, resulting in a likely reopening date in early August.

Construction is being financed by the Club taking-out internal loans against our land-acquisition funds.

Both current and new members will share the load of repaying these internal loans.

Will the pistol range be opened to regular members without being an RSO?

Nope, not unless a SLSC Club-RSO is already there to take the range hot for them. It is the plan for all regular members to become certified as SLSC Club-RSOs, so that they may accept the role of duty-RSO on the Rifle-Range or the Bullseye Pistol-Range and thereby make the range "hot" for themselves and others.

Thank you for the clear answers. Looking forward to membership.

    Glad to be of help:thumbsup:.

You can certainly e-mail BobG (theglot@hotmail.com) or PM to theglot to find-out where you stand on this year's waiting-list.

Is the website down (broken) for some reason? Also filling my app out today.

Thanks for the heads-up -- I just checked and confirmed that the website IS down.:mad54: Dunno why -- we'll investigate and fix it.

In the meantime, you can use this thread to ask any pertinent questions. I'll subscribe to this thread.

We do have a project underway to field a new, more functional and user-friendly website (using forums provided via MDShooters). But deployment is still 4-5 months out. :sad20:

Recommend to anyone interested gets their applications in ASAP. Although this year is probably the best opportunity in years for SLSC membership opportunities, we have no way of guaranteeing that you'll get-in under the new 600-member membership-cap.

Mail is best. Postmark determines place on waiting-list.

We recommend USPS Delivery Confirmation if you're worried about them losing it, but we've never had a documented case of a lost application. But that is relatively cheap insurance, if this sort of thing worries you.

There's no mail-drop or street-address at the Club. We can take hand-delivered applications, but not until the 12 July BoD meeting at the Clubhouse at 7 PM.

BTW, as mentioned, the site has been down for a while now.

I go to every IDPA match and ask about the classes every time I am there. If you havent been to a match thats a good place to start. Getting to know club members and frequent IDPA shooters is very important. Right now I think they are for members only bec you need to be IDPA certified to use the competition pits for practice.

    IDPA SO Certification Question

How did you get on the SO Class?

See this thread: http://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=85773 for details.

Please keep in-mind that the primary motivation for getting certified as an IDPA SO is NOT so that you can practice in the Pits like in the "old days". That is merely a collateral benefit of being an SO.

The primary reason to get SO-certified is so that you can actively help with running the matches or the practice-events. As an IDPA-SO at Sanner's, you WILL be required to put in hours assisting with the running of these events.

It's not the number of thread-posts - that's for the Classified Ads.

The restriction on my link is that it is for SLSC members-only. I forgot that you are not a member yet.

    Recommendations:
    1. Get your SLSC application in ASAP.
    2. Join IDPA, if you have not already done so.
    3. Shoot with us at SLSC IDPA Matches (you can shoot as a non-SLSC-Member and you can shoot ONE match before joining IDPA).
    4. Once that you're both an SLSC-member and an IDPA-member, then you can start thinking about becoming an IDPA SO.

P.S. Our WebMaster is working to get the SLSC website fixed. :mad54:

With the Web site down, are there any dates when the next match might be?
    (To be watched at least?)
