    Hey Guys,

So I recently put together an AR-15 with a buddy of mine and put about a hundred fifty rounds through it and took it apart to see if everything is working correctly and found a few notches around the perimeter of the tube. (See picture below)

I believe that its due to the tube getting hit at an angle but that doesnt make too much sense because I dont know how that would happen. Anyone have any input as to how this is happening and what would fix it?
    Thanks!

That is not a buffer tube, it's the the actual buffer itself.

There is a MDS thread from not too long ago that addressed this. I'll see if I can find it.

Yes your correct, the buffer is where im having issues, not the tube. Thanks for the heads up!

Hard to tell from the pic, is just the coating chipped off or is the metal gouged deeply?

I've never had a colored buffer before. Maybe someone else who has a PSA buffer can chime it to see if this happens during normal use.

Its definitely gouged and causing the area effected to "crater" in effect and portions of the exposed metal on the buffer are quite sharp.

Also if you can see on the picture, the edge of the buffer is rippled and not smooth as the rest of the buffer due to what im guessing is the impact causing the gouges.
