thanks, so that brings it down to 2,000 mailings or if everybody just sent two rounds that a thousand people who send messages and some have certainly sent more than two rounds of mails. Honestly, I believe it is still just a few hundred who are actually active - in Frosh's eyes the conspiracy bunch .... :sad20:

Great read......Now we ought to start a email and fax campaign to the Governor's office and let him know how HAPPY we are that they didn't get all of their spending plans put in place. That we are tired of the spending and it is time to make hard decisions. We have to keep our eyes open for more than just our 2A rights as well.

Also I made it a point to say in all of my emails and faxes last night that WE WERE LISTENING and we know who is pushing private agenda's and trying to waste money!

The more they know that we are more than just a email hit squad and the fact we actually are listening to ALL ASPECTS OF THEIR EFFORTS, the better off we are and the more serious we will be taken.

I say it's time to flood the Governor's office with fax's and emails of "We're glad you didn't get your way".

sounds like something dwyer would say :D

The ONLY reason 579 didn't get passed seems to be the swell of phone calls and emails. Perhaps Legg's ruling gave people in md a backbone for once. I'm still shocked at the number of people that have NO CLUE about woolard, Legg, or that md's "good and substantial" was ruled unconstitutional. It seems as a community, we have a great opportunity to spread the word and plant seeds of 2a freedom in everyone's minds while the lawmakers are off doing whatever they do in the off-season. The more people that we can get to think of the right to carry as a potential reality, the better for our turnout.

I agree with this. Battered Gun Owner Syndrome no more, we have conquered our "Stockholm syndrome" on this issue.

    Whew....

    Done... :)

I just couldn't hang in all night like some did... thanks for the blow-by-blow!

Special thanks to the MSI Stalwarts for keeping the focus on this. Also to Del. Smigiel and Sen. Pipken (and others) who were the point of the spear.

We are the footsoldiers, and I think we all learned a lot in the past few days about how the people CAN make a difference. This should be boilerplate learning for future efforts, and NOT just for emergencies! I never thought I would be able to get this involved (or maybe I just didn't want my ass hanging out all alone?), but I was surprised.

The response and outpouring since Legg ruled has been amazing.

Keep up the good work, and yes... the next OHR had better be amazing!!

I respectfully disagree. In the post-Wollard world, we as a constituency appear to be far more energized, vocal, and willing to rally than before. We all need to keep up the effort, but now there's a lot more of us exerting it.

I cannot wait until our next Open Holster Rally....

To bad that MD has the stupid protest law, because it could be a filled holster rally.

I'm sure others got this too, but and email I got this morning from AGC said that 379000emails went though their system alone!

I wonder if they count each instance that their system is used (IE, like me, I sent 1 email to the house, 2 to the Senate, and to each member thereof) or if they count every email (each mail sent to each individual legislator)?

Rest, but do not drop your guard. Unless there is some behind the scenes conspiracy for the "Doomsday budget" to be THE budget, there is almost certainly going to be a special session. MOM, Gansler and Frosh and their allies will sneak anything in they can.

Like the Federal Budget last year ... its no longer possible to do things the way politicians used to do them behind closed doors

The amendment to this bill, by the maryland State Senate amounted to no more than a temper tantrum by the Anti-2A crowd in response to the Woollard decision.

We now see the veil has been lifted. To para-phrase Reagan, there is a 2A "EVIL EMPIRE" comprising itself of Frosh, Gansler, OweMalley, the MSP upper eschelon, and others.

Their intent was crystal clear, allow their minions within the MSP to institute even more draconian restrictions AND do so not just for CCW, but ALL regulated firearms.

If this isn't enough of a wake up call of how they operate, and will continue to operate, then I don't know what else to say.

Maryland has abysmally low voter turnout %. We need to turnout at the elections, all of them, and vote the bums out. I know many Marylanders are registered Democrats and vote party line, but it's about time you sent your party a message, .... ENOUGH ALREADY!!

Fixed it for ya. Bush used "axis of evil." This group truly is more like the Red Commies of Russia!

I'm going to second this only because I can't say it any better!

Thanks all who burned the midnight oil and stayed up for the lesson in civics. Pretty disgusting when you get right down to it.

Despite the fact 987 passed the Senate, I don't think it can become law. There were amendments being offered right up to the last minute, and two actually got adopted. That means the House had to concur on the amendments and they had no time to do so. That means a different version of the bill passed each chamber, and without some kind of additional vote it cannot become law. Following this stuff online is confusing for me at times.

597 was going to go the same route after about 2100. MD has a requirement that bills be printed and distributed - after a certain hour that gets logistically impossible.

Another bill that I think failed to pass was HB 190 - sounds ordinances. I caught this one too late, but it could have been used to shut down backyard ranges state-wide. I think it went the route of 987 - passed but amendments were never accepted by the House.

    It's a pain, I tell ya...

So the Governor and the AG want to go spend money fighting a court case in the 4th Circuit while education is being cut. Brilliant!

I think everyone should get a copy of the newspaper article which shows D.C. settling with Gura's law firm for $1.5 million and mail it to their representatives and the Governor. Then ask them why they are OK spending millions on litigation to deny Marylanders their civil rights while cutting the education budget at the same time.

Have the heads of MSI or SAF notified any of the local news media? It might be a good idea. It could get the message out. It might also be good to mention how many people decided to listen to the live feed only to be appalled at how things really go down but were happy to see that our voices had some sort of an impact. It may invigorate some others to listen to what is going on which can only be a good thing.

I think they count each email, which in retrospect with something someone else said above, is not that much.

If a thousand members sent 2 emails to above listed members that's 376000

I know some here sent more that 2 emails so it would seem that we had a small group of very vocal people.
That number should be million plus, then the state will really take notice.

There are pro-2A, fiscally responsible democrats out there. A lot of voters just blindly vote for any schmuck with a D next to their name though. Look at Maxine Waters, my old socks have a higher IQ than her...

First I heard about HB190. That would screw up my quality of life in a major way.
