This cannot be true, because law abiding citizens cannot be trusted to have handguns for self defense and if they do, blood will run in the streets !!

I wonder what the Brady Bunch's reply to this will be?

More Bravo Sierra is my guess.

And PG went down as well with no additional GUN LAWS? Pshaw ! can't be true!

I can see that the ANTI will say, see, our laws works, just give us little bit more time :)

That will be hard to say in light of HELLER and DC's now allowing handguns in your home for SD.

According to the anti's this should make the homicide rate go up, not plummet.

i wonder if there is a way to link gun sales by area with crime rate of the same and or surrounding areas.

One of DC's (read Eleanor Holmes Norton among others) complaints is that DC residents buy guns in VA at gun shows and use them to commit crimes in DC. VA gun sales have skyrocketed, just like sales on a national level. If that's so, why did DC's rate plummet? More crazed unsubstantiated claims from the antis. I hope someone rubs their elite noses in this.

    Sadly no one will.

The problem is that its probably true. But whats also true is that and armed public is the only cure to the violent criminals that WILL buy guns under any circumstances. more for legal=harder for criminals

you are making the assumption that rabid anti-2a folks use logic and reason in their arguments.

Some guys I work with are from the DC area. They said there was a popular tax-incentive program for prospective home buyers puchasing in DC several years ago and that the demographics have changed for the better in many but not all parts of DC. If this is true, than it sounds like the primary factor in the reduction of homicides. Anyone know anything about this?

That was probably mostly folks buying in NW and along the SW waterfront area near the new stadium. NE and SE hasn't changed much.

No, homicide rates clearly went down because Obama got elected and fixed the economy. Maybe now he can point at something concrete whenever people ask him about his Nobel Peace Prize.

    They're moving deeper into Maryland.

That is entirely true. PG (pistol grip) county has taken the brunt of gentrification and DC closing housing projects.
I am not saying closing housing projects and telling people to get a job is wrong, but in lieu of getting a job the thugs moved to PG.

Homicide in DC went down because of the economy that allowed more law abiding types move in. That drove up property values and kicked out the criminal parasites. None of this had to do with gun prohibition or recent gun rights freedom.

I would love to call DC a halmark of why gun control does not work. It should be. We had the most restirictive laws and the highest gun murder rate. BUT it is not. The fundamental fact still lays infront, criminals willing to murder do not follow gun law protocol. Any law restricting ownership will be ignored by someone willing to murder. People willing to follow a gun law do not murder.
