I have for sale a pre64 Winchester Model 70 chambered in 30-06 with a vintage Leupold M8 7.5x scope mounted in Weaver brand bases and rings. The serial number puts the the rifle as a 1953 production. The scope I have been unable to determine a manufacturing date, but apparently the curved Leupold banner logo puts it into a vintage that's considered collectible. I suspect the scope and rings may be of the same time period, but I don't know how to determine that.
The rifle is in excellent shape. I would not call it mint, but I am leaning towards that it never saw the field. It has a few dings and marks, but no visible rust or missing bluing. To me, it looks like handling marks from living in someone's closet for nearly 70 years. The scope and rings are similarly in superb shape. What appears to be tarnish on the bolt body is in fact grease.
Anyways, be sure to click on the link to the Flickr album and check out all the pictures. IMO, the pictures don't do the gun justice. I can never figure out why guns are so hard to take pictures of.
If you can't get to the pictures, let me know, and I'll figure out something that works for you.
