10/17 UPDATE:

Just a quick reminder, bring eye and ear protection.
If you are bringing machine guns to the shoot, bring ammo and you may want to bring along a tarp and buckets for spent brass.

We have a date locked in at a private range in Carroll County.

iHasCrabs is providing the food, $40 per person all you can eat/drink including crabs, $25 without crabs.

$20 per person to attend- this will go towards range expenses/cleanup.

There will be at least one car to shoot.

We will have machineguns available to rent; you are welcome to bring your mgs & other NFA as well.

This is a preliminary list, but we plan on bringing out at least one MG42, BREN, STEN, FAL, MP5, Thompson, MP40, a .22LR AK, a full auto SKS, possibly the M2 carbine, VZ61 Skorpion, RPK, and a VZ58 if it gets built and tested in time...

Who's interested?

***UPDATE***9/8/14

The shoot is set for October 19th, 10am-6pm.

$20/person to attend. Tickets are on sale now in the shop, cash or check only. If you are mailing in a check to us, please mark the envelope "MG Shoot", and include a SASE to expedite getting your tickets in the mail.

There will be two food options, and there is ample seating inside.
$25/person if you're not eating crabs; $40 if you are having crabs.
There wil be water, sodas, ribs, chicken, side dishes, etc.

Due to the size of the shoot, I'm going to have to keep this one focused on MGs/DDs. We will have another shoot in the future for semi/suppressed weapons. I just want to make sure everyone gets a chance to shoot, and if everyone brings their AR, it will take the entirety of the shoot just to give everyone a half hour on the firing line.

Feel free to bring your machine guns & DDs, just shoot me a PM and let me know what you are bringing out.
You are welcome to bring your children to the shoot, but I must stress that the firing line will be 18+ to shoot.
Things are shaping up nicely; this should be a blast.

This is a project in the works; I'm putting out a feeler to gauge interest.
We have a date locked in at a private range in Carroll County.

iHasCrabs is working out the details on the food, cost per person for food/beverage TBD

$20 per person to attend- this will go towards range expenses/cleanup.

There will be at least one car to shoot.

If you have something in NFA jail currently in our vault, I will bring it out so you can play with it. Feel free to bring a host weapon or two.

We will provide ammo. I haven't worked out the figures yet, but it will work something like this- $10 for 3 30rd mags in the AK 22, $X for a 100rd belt, etc.

Food cost would be $40 per person which makes the entire day of awesome fun $60 each.
Food will include:
All you can eat medium/large crabs
Fried chicken
Steamed corn
Potato salad
Cole slaw
Mac salad
Sodas

Ultimately that's up to duffys and vince. How they want to do this. The last ip that did a machine gun shoot it was $125 per person for range fee/food not including ammo costs. So I think regardless this is much cheaper. The biggest pain I see would be separating everyone who paid only to shoot or to only eat or both. I'll wait for vince to chime in here

We will provide ammo. I haven't worked out the figures yet, but it will work something like this- $10 for 3 30rd mags in the AK 22, $X for a 100rd belt, etc.Any idea when you might have approximate ammo prices for the non .22 guns, e. g. the Thompson? (searched but didn't see anything else)

Trying to get an idea of total cost before food for two ($20 x 2 addmission + ammo costs).

Thanks!

Thanks!

I'm still working out the figures. I need to make nice, round figures just for ease of making change at the shoot, and I'm still sourcing bulk ammo. Here's a rough idea of what I've come up with, although it may fluctuate.

The 9mm subguns should run about $10 per mag
The thompsons are around $20 for a 30rd mag, maybe I could do something like $50 for 3 mags, or $50 for one 20rd mag, one 30rd mag, and one 50rd drum. We are still going through to function check all the guns, so I am not certain if we have reliable drums on hand, but I will keep you posted.
The guns in 7.62x 39 will be $20 for 2 30rd mags. The Bren gun will run $30/mag. I'm considering other options, like $20 for 20rds or two mags for $50. I need to crunch the numbers depending on our stock and availability of new production .303 British. From a liability standpoint, we are not running surplus ammo or reloads; I've just found that too much can go wrong, and it is our job to ensure that everything is safe and reliable over being as cheap as possible. I have a fair amount of privi partisan and hornady 303, and am attempting to source more.
I'm checking into our stores of 7.62x25 for the PPsh 41 & PPs43.
We also have a DUX 9mm that runs on Suomi coffin mags & drums; which we may bring out.
The MG42s will be set up in 308. We plan on running them prone and in the Lafette mount. Depending on 308 costs, we will probably be around $50/belt. If there's enough interest, maybe we could bring out the anti aircraft mount, but running two MG42s simultaneously gets expensive pretty quickly...

I was thinking damn I'm busy that weekend but I was thinking Sept. 12. Too far ahead right now to say for sure. Didn't you have one of these last year or was it a suppressed day?

We had a suppressed shoot last November, but this will be our first official MG shoot since our range closed up 15 years ago. We used to have an annual 4th of July car shoot, I have a VHS of the 1994 edition kicking around the shop...

Next thing ya know, they'll be down there in Annapolis crafting legislation to prevent gun owners from having any fun just on general principle. Can't be having any of that after all they have done to constrain things...

We have plenty of tickets available, you can pick them up on Saturday. We don't have enough 22 on hand to warrant bringing any 22 mgs, but we will have a lot of other ones. In light on recent events, we are not going to allow anyone under 18 to shoot though. Too much liability.

We've got a 22 gun converted and we're testing it. It wasn't built with full-auto in mind, and so we're having to do some reinforcing of parts... heh. So far, it runs like lightning. We only have 10 round mags (the last round is fired before the first shell hits the ground), but some drums are on the way!

The 22 will be free to shoot as long as there is donated ammo. We don't really have any 22 tucked away, but at least two people have dropped off 500 round bricks.

The only thing that I can think of that would make this day even better is if there were a table full of FREE COOKIES!

I am making cookies for the event. Lots of them. Maybe not a table full but plenty. ;)

This is what I get for being MIA for a few months. Missed this thread. Hopefully there is some space available. I'll be up tomorrow at lunchtime for two tickets :D

Just a reminder, because there has been some confusion - this is a machine gun only shoot. If you have a machine gun you'd like to bring to shoot, please notify us. No semi-autos will be allowed.

If you are bringing a machine gun, you must bring along copies of your paperwork... don't drag grandpappy's attic bringback he never told anyone about... heh.

Vince

Per our conversation helping as an RSO, I will not be able to attend that date. That is an annual family trip weekend we take with friends to the eastern shore. Dang it.

I wont mention the car or mg42. I know they rather do that then go with us.

If you guys need another RSO, i can make myself available. I don't intend to shoot, just another set of eyes and ears on the line. I can bring some essential first aid tools if desired. I'll stop in Saturday to discuss, unless you indicate otherwise here. I also have a pair of walkie talkies to bring if need be. your call.

After much debate, have decided to make the following cookies: chocolate chip, peanut butter, peanut butter chocolate chip and Russian Teacakes.

Unless there's a lot of complaining, I am not making oatmeal raisin cookies. (Figure since Lou's not on the attendee list, I could skip those ;))

"After much debate"? This mean you're talking to yourself again?
We all know Lou is "special" but basing cookie selection on his presence elevates that title to a whole new level.
