Im sure this will probably change to a higher amount of snowfall -should the incoming cold front be cold enough to keep it as snow.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS ISSUED A BLIZZARD
WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM MONDAY TO 6 PM EDT
TUESDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* LOCATIONS...THE BEST CHANCES FOR HEAVY ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW
WILL COME FOR ELEVATIONS GREATER THAN 2500 FEET OVER THE
TRICOUNTY AREA TO THE SOUTH OF OAKLAND.

* HAZARD TYPES...HEAVY WET SNOW AND HIGH WINDS IN EXCESS OF 40
MPH AT TIMES.

* ACCUMULATIONS...LOCATIONS IN THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS ARE EXPECTED
TO RECEIVE UP TO 8 INCHES OF SNOW. LOCATIONS IN THE LOWER
ELEVATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO RECEIVE SNOW MIXED WITH RAIN...WHICH
COULD RESULT IN NO ACCUMULATION.

* TIMING...RAIN IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN CHANGING OVER TO SNOW MONDAY
EVENING...WITH THE MOST INTENSE SNOW EXPECTED AFTER MIDNIGHT.
WINDS WILL ALSO BE AT THEIR STRONGEST AFTER MIDNIGHT. SNOW WILL
BEGIN TO DIMINISH IN INTENSITY ON TUESDAY.

* IMPACTS...EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED
DUE TO HEAVY SNOWFALL AND STRONG WIND. VISIBILITY WILL BE NEAR
ZERO IN SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW. STRONG WIND MAY DOWN POWER
LINES AND TREE LIMBS. SECONDARY ROADS MAY BECOME IMPASSABLE.

* WINDS...WEST 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE UPPER 20S TO MID 30S.

* VISIBILITIES...LESS THAN ONE-QUARTER MILE IN THE HEAVIEST SNOW
BANDS.

That was simlar info that was posted for this area- since yesterday. But at 4:30 PM the NWS changed it to a blizzard warning. The approaching cold front from the west must be colder then they were expecting.

The initial forecast said something about a worst case scenario of 3-4 feet.

I might be unable to get back up there before March now.

The wife and I usually go and spend the day on Thnaksgiving weekend just to get out of her parents' house for a while.

If its just 8 inches of snow - then its no big deal. We can deal with that.

But reports yesterday were saying that the higher elevations of WV (Applachians) could see 50 inches. Southern Garrett County was the dividing line on that. That could very easily, (and more then likely) be the case for us.

If its any consultation - the weekend is supposed to be in the 50's , lol.

Be safe out there folks. I'm intently watching to see what happens as most of my family is in MD to include my wife. Wherever you may be in the state, be careful. To be honest, I'm kinda jealous. I missed Irene as I flew out with the planes at Martins but I was there for those t-storms back in June. I was prepared for that as I am sure most of you were but since I moved to Alaska, I took most of the "stuff" with me and my wife is doing her best without me. And I am hoping my Grandfather's place between Frostburg and Grantsville comes out okay. Praying that you all come through this intact and safe.

My daughter and her family are in Elkins, WV. She told me just a few minutes ago they are planning for a big hit.

We dodged the proverbial bullet here in NC. We got a little rain and some wind. No major flooding in my area. I understand the OBX took a bit of a hit.

Hang in there, folks. Be careful. Don't do anything dumb. There isn't any reason you need to go out other than a dire emergency. When it comes down to it, I think there is not one person here that would disagree that "bored with no power" is a better scenario than "seriously hurt or dead."

Given our winter forecast, I'm actually looking at snow brooms right now. That storm a couple of years ago scared the crap out of me with all of the snow piled on the roof.

I know what you mean, mine is a blacktop lute I brought home from work and added a longer handle. I'm to cheap to buy the right tool for the job, but it works pretty good.

My house sits at 2990 feet above sea level - out in the open on a hilltop.

It is always windy in the Winter, and rarely does the snow pile on it. Good thing, I hate to climb roofs anytime of the year.
