The whole barrel would be a lot more tempting if it was packaged in ammo cans and not loose in a barrel (which I assume it is, I have seen pics of LC sold like that before). In fact, that is pretty much the only thing that has kept me from it in the past. If nothing else, it's just a huge PITA to move.

YES IT IS LOOSE IN THE BARREL, ALL FOUR HUNDRED+ POUNDS OF NEW AMMO! THAT'S THE REASON BARRELS DON'T FLY OUT THE DOOR..... TO HEAVY! YES IT IS TIME CONSUMING TO BREAK IT DOWN TO SMALLER LOTS.

Are you getting multiple barrels? Any idea how long that price will be good?

Get some .50 cans and transfer the contents of the barrel. You might want to bring a buddy or a kid with you. A regular .50 can holds about 1,200 rounds.

I'll have to think on that. Would you personally deliver or ship, because I would probably be splitting it with a friend in Elkridge, which is a heck of a lot closer to you than Frederick.

Personally.

Price: I'm considering a whole barrel, so I am first doing my homework. I have seen barrels for sale before (Natchez for example) and want to be sure I am not overpaying. Nothing to report here yet because I haven't really had a chance to look.

Quantity: Again this goes to price. I think there should be at least a reasonable price advantage to buying in large bulk vs 1K at a time, again not done with my homework.

Manufacture: I like Federal Lake City stuff and green tips are fine. I have heard that when shipped in this format you can see a lot of dinged up rounds. Not sure if this is isolated cases or the norm.

Also, because of the distance, I have to be saving enough to make the drive worth it, or figure in the cost of paying for delivery.

Believe me I would be in for a 1000 rds just like a fat guy at an all u could eat buffet but I just had to buy a new dryer so that killed my mad money for the next 2 months

Meh, seen barrels for $3,800 plus about $360 freight.
