Hahahaha...that happened to me once at Gilbert's on Backlick Rd. I made a point of telling everyone it happened while I was reloading and nodded my head toward the guilty party, who was apparently too emabarassed to fess up.

Thankfully, no kittens were killed during my last visit to freestate.

The cameras are great, it's an easy way to keep everyone honest. Unfortunately Mark and I watched a guy look down the barrel of his pistol. (He did check it before he did so, but it was one of those "Bad Idea" moments.)

LOL at this thread!

Over the years I have been both amused, and at times downright scared by some of the stuff I've seen at public ranges. Amused when I see someone using full house loads to target practice, never mind the fact that they flinch so badly they are lucky to get it on the paper at all, and scared when I see some jackass who clearly isn't keeping safety a priority.

One day I saw a guy shooting a .45, and after it misfired he backed up and started jacking the slide around, all while it was pointed directly at the lower back of the woman he was there shooting with. I yelled at him, (something to the effect of "Hey! Stop! Watch where you're pointing that!") and then soon thereafter I packed up and left.

At Continental, they don't give Lane 1 to anybody they don't know can shoot. If you look at the wall to your left, you can tell why. I absolutely don't understand how someone can put a round in the ceiling right in front of the firing line, but they're all marked up.

It's called letting people shoot at Continental who don't know how to shoot.

It's a wonder serious accidents don't happen regularly.

I don't mind lane 1 but it is constantly in my head that the other 11 lanes are muzzling me when they rack perpendicular to the lane.
Rack slides downrange not at your neighbor.
I'd bet some of those close up baffle shots are rack fires.

You're not imagining things.

Some guy with a 12 gauge was sweeping the entire line one day.

You could see his red beam of light glowing on the left wall. He was on the right wall.

That's when I moved to FreeState.

This is why I shoot outside on private property.

My father may be responsible for one of the holes. I took him shooting once, and when going from a glock to a double action pistol I had with us he was convinced it wasn't working. It released VERY late in the trigger pull. He turned around to ask what was going on and when displaying that it wasn't working pulled the trigger and it went off. Thank God he had the intelligence to keep it pointed down range, but it still scared the shit out of us.

I'm partially responsible for not explaining the difference well enough. I'm pretty sure that bullet missed the target.

I should add that Randy saw what happened in the camera and came in immediately. He was very professional about the incident when he definitely didn't have to be.
