Is this a good deal on an EO Tech HWS?

Sportsman's Guide has them on sale. $310 shipped after mail in rebate

Are you talking about the XPS? What the rebate deal?

Edit: Found it on EOTECH's website.

Pure preference for me, but I don't like the QD lever on the EO's.

Too easy to remove and walk away with the optic if someone isn't paying attention. I've done that to a few friends in VA when we went out shooting.

Took them a minute to finally notice it too.

I actually prefer the QD mount. No extra mount or riser needed, the QD is easy to adjust and tighten and I hope my buddies wouldn't steal it or mess with it. I actually have both with and without, but try to stay consistent. Like Brad said, it's all about preference. I really enjoy the Eotechs, so I feel like there is there is no wrong choice.

Not if you use the torx-head screw.

The only issue I have had with the XPS line is the thumb screw does not stay tight. When I first bought mine my EOtech almost fell off the rifle after 100 rounds.
