Image Problem with Classifieds Section
How the hell do I make images under 1500kb? What the hell is 1500 kb? I use paint the same way I always do to resize pics so that I can upload them, but this time its not working. Im trying to add pics of the mags Im selling, but cant figure out how to get them on my page.

1500 kb is 1.5 megs (or 1.4648 megs to be exact if you factor in binary conversion of a bit) anyway. Basically you need to keep the image under 1.5 megabytes. If you're using paint make sure you're not saving the file as a .BMP file the compression (or lack there of) make the files usually very large.
You want to save the image as a .jpg or a .gif where the lossless compression ration is much better and typically referred to as the standard. __________________ "They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safety." - Benjamin Franklin |

Ditto on the .jpg format. That's the best type of image to upload for good quality and it's less taxing on bandwidth.

Double dittos on JPG, with just one exception- if you're scanning and uploading black & white documents, i.e. typewritten pages or newspaper, GIF can be a little more efficient. Anything photographic in nature should be saved as a JPG though.

PNG is really the best format (quality vs. file size), but IE doesn't want to support it yet (maybe IE7 does?). So, in the meantime, we're stuck with JPG (an ancient format). Use paint.net instead of paint, when you save the image, it gives you a slider to adjust quality of the output file along with the final file size. About 1,000,000x better than Paint.
