9x18 vs 9mm Luger

Can you fire the shorter 9x18 in a gun chambered for 9mm Luger? Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find it...

I wouldn't, but I have to ask 'Why?' Is it a cost issue? 9mm luger is the same price as 9mm Makarov.

NO....they're both 9mm but I think the 9x18 is a fraction bigger round. I forget teh actual specs but you can google it.

I was just thinking because I noticed a lot of "OUT OF STOCK" icons next to 9mm Luger items, but can find plenty of places with 9x18.

I will not be attempting though, based on ya'lls advice.

Yep. 9x18 is .363. 9mm Luger is .356

Not interchangeable.

9x18 is an excellent round! I recently got into 9x18 caliber guns and they are a joy to shoot!! I think I enjoy them more than my 9x19

wait a minute -- you mean that "9" is not "9"?

what a surprise.

I wasn't going to try it (all my stuff is 9mm lugar... have resisted the Makarov because I am not in a hurry to multiply calibres...) but I would have suspected the answer to the OP would have been yes. Thanks for the education!!

one I don't have is the Radom P83 and the FEG 918 but there are a few in 9x18. buy a Makarov, you won't regret it.
