Does seem a little short... The distance between the front sling and the front barrel band looks shortened to me like the stock and handguard are short...is the barrel band spring there?

Is it normal that the bayonet's barrel ring would extend beyond the muzzle? I would think not. Do you think that barrel has been cut?

i think it was cut, but I dont think Bubba did it.

Damn. I am looking for a nice polish k98 and Wz 29 to round out my polish collection. Many are bubba'd up or complete yard-sales with numbers all kver the place and german parts.

OP... I see in your original post you thought it seemed a little short for a mauser

Pretty nice... Wish the receiver was not scrubbed but that is sooo common

I was thinking that also. I think there is more history to the carbine formerly known as rifle than I think. A lot of attention was paid to cut it down but not sporterize it.

The front band spring is missing and has been filled in. It is an older repair I believe. There is actual patina on the muzzle.

Yes. That's a bayo for a Yugo M48.

The bayo lug should be a half inch behind the muzzle, which it's not and which is why the bayo doesn't fit.
