This all goes back to a Supreme Court case Roper vs Simms. Get rid of that and you could have a Senate based on geographical areas.

It is a problem we are becoming so polarized.

Since DC wants to be a state, make the counties of Loundon, Fairfax, Arlington, Montgomery, Prince Georges, Howard, and the cities of DC and Baltimore into the 51st state. The rest of Maryland can stay as is.

Great Idea. I would love the eastern shore to do the same as western maryland.

I wish they would go across the northern part of the state to the eastern shore, then down to Southern Maryland. That would carve out the cancer.

Yes, that's the idea I was going for - convince the liberals that DC _really_ wants to be a state - then include the liberals areas around it.

The conservative areas of Virginia and Maryland would jump with joy, I would think.

Plan D? Not worth the hassle.
if liberal land would become its own state -- they would pick up some seats in the US senate ... that would be offset by the rest of Maryland

Noone would loose a seat.. the rest of the state would keep the name Maryland -- and the liberal core would be called Martyland..

    It could work ... :)

Wish I had the information about this li'l shindig at O'Lordan's with Owemally, he would have received an earful from me on this subject.

MOM said, "Well I can't imagine Maryland without Western Maryland".

ME: "Well take the map of Maryland and cut out the five Counties; Garrett, Alleghany, Washington, Frederick, and Carroll. Now look at it, study it, and take heed as it could be the shape of things to come".

MOM: .....but we're one Maryland and we're stronger together".

ME: "Stronger together??? The main reason, if not the only reason, you want us to stay, or should I say more appropriately holding us hostage, is for the Western Maryland tax dollars going into Annapolis that is keeping Maryland afloat. Without those tax dollars pouring in from Western Maryland you would have to cut numerous socialist programs from the remainder of what's left of the state. Western Maryland would be stronger than Maryland due to not having any ties with the two cesspools known as Baltimore and the immediate surrounding suburbs and the Maryland suburbs of DC".

    MOM: WTF???

Western MD receives more benefits than tax revenues. If Western MD did succeed it would be a very poor state

That's assuming those living in Western MD want those "benefits" in the first place. It's also assuming that, without the benefits, the people would fail. In reality, the only reasons those benefits are necessary is because of the liberal policies that have destroyed independence and work ethic. When people have an option of working and paying taxes or sitting home and collecting checks, yeah, they'll probably receive more than they pay.

Keep in mind, the only reason Maryland is afloat is because of our proximity to DC.

I don't have the actual numbers but somebody (^^^) knows what I'm speaking of; remove most libtard give away policies and save $$$. If anyone sucking off the former libtard gubment has a problem with that, they can move to libtard Maryland.

Wow, those names are something else. How about you just call it “Western Maryland” instead of some retarded “Freedom Boner” name.

I love the idea but Western MD would have a hell of a time making it on their own at first. They take in way more money than they give out and I doubt private business would be jumping for joy to sign on to a new state that has even less money than stability.

Maryland in general has no desire to get more private sector businesses because they have NSA, DoD, and other filthy government employment to keep their economy afloat so it will be a long time before Western MD has the power to seriously start their own state. This movement really should be working on creating a Western MD that is able to survive by itself before even considering creating a new state because if this state is the first to secede and fails miserably, it will be the end of the secession movement.

Secession's actually been bandied-about throughout the midwest for the past several years and I could see things becoming serious if Hillary succeeds Obama (I shudder at the thought!). But all it'd take to re-center the country is for the Supreme Court to return to the Constitution and its constitutional responsibilities, which means striking down unconstitutional laws when presented before them (the list's so long that it'd take them years to untie all the knots they've caused). I fear that if they don't, the only hope for law-abiding American citizens of the Republic--whose sole responsibility as US citizens is to protect and defend the Constitution--is secession.
Give me liberty and all that...

Suppose the SC rules the way you want and the liberal states take up the current conservative state's rights argument and say "I know that's what you said, but you can't make me do it"?

They might use some facetious "public safety" argument or just say "the court is just incorrect"

The difference is that the conservatives have upholding the Constitution (law) on their side, while the other side would, as is oft the case, simply be breaking it (the law).

That the other side could even consider making the same argument indicates the lack of constitutional law on their side and the degree to which the country's veered away from the Constitution.

Don't be silly. Let's remember who we're talking about: (the-ends-always-justify-the-means) progressives. Of course it doesn't stop them.
