AK Pistols, AR Pistols and Rifle Cal. Pistols

THere's been a lot of discussion regarding AK Pistols, AR Pistols, Rifle Caliber Pistols and Arm Braces lately. I think that's great!!! I was board the other night so I went through the Maryland Handgun Roster and noted every Pistol that was a rifle caliber. Here's the list, if I missed any please feel free to add but I basically cut/paste the list:

EA LLC Para 47, Para 74, and Suchka are AK pistols. Only the E4 is AR platform.

Daniel Defense MK18 (5.56) and 300BLK pistols are on the roster.

I believe a bunch more were just added to the roster. I know a pistol length PTR 91 in 7.62 x51 was approved and I believe there are others as well

I never could see the appeal of rifle caliber pistols. But to each his own.

.32-20 , .38-40 , and .44-40 are all "rifle" rounds, even though they also became "Pistol" rounds almost as fast as they were introduced. And are dandy pistol rounds. Likewise .30 carbine is primarily thought of as a rifle round, but has a steady niche following as a revolver round.

Whole families of wildcat ctgs were designed equally as rounds for Contenders, XP-100's , and short action rifles . heck for it's first decade of existance, the .300Whisper was probably more popular as a Contender round than in rifles, or at least very close.

The 7.62x39 has virtually the same case capacity as the .30 Herret , which was considered to be, and designed to be an ideal hunting ctg for 10in Contenders.

But yeah , I see where you are coming from regarding "pistols" based upon a full size semiauto rifle essentially chopped off at each end. In the PRM currently , the excitement is using the Roster as a vehicle for obtaining the actions legally for various projects.

No these aren't beltguns. If you can wrap your mind around the concept of a *third catagory* of things like Contenders and XP-100's , some of them may have merit in that vein.

Here is the new Zastava m85np just picked up

So far all I have done is a quick takedown and clean up. The staked(?)Tapco mag kind of sucks and is a pain to take out. My pmag's seem to be a little tight/drop free slowly and the one steel mag I have is easy to drop free. Tell me what you think...I can't wait to shoot it
