I see they're moving this year to Dover international speedway.

With this new venue, any issues with CCW?

Well that sucks. I remember when it was in Millsboro 20 miles from the beach (where I have a house). It was bad enough when they moved it Bridgeville. Now Dover? I am not sure how they will have enough room to shoot anywhere at the speedway.

FYI, this is from the camping area rules of the speedway.

    "Not Permitted
Fireworks, sky lanterns or sky candles
    Weapons of any type"

I was there in Bridgeville last year and had a blast!!! Don't think I'll make it this year being it just wont be the same not being held in a corn field!!!

I was thinking the same thing!

New location says they have to shoot half the stuff before the public is even allowed on site. Lame.

Well dang. I was hoping to kill two birds with one stone and get a little range time as well as the Chunk. I miss the original venue though.

Lame. They have to shoot half of them without the public there? I guess the centrifugal slings might be a serious hazard but come on! That's AWESOME!

I was considering going this year but I don't know now. As stated before the corn field seems so much more appropriate.

Ahh, the good old days of the Chunk when you could walk right up and stand next to (behind) the machines. It used to be a redneck paradise, with open bars  and food for a minor "donation", the thrill of having to dodge errant pumpkins:outta her:. Now, especially since its moving to a venue like the Speedway, it will never be the same. :sad20:

This article captures what it used to be like very well, http://johnnygoodtimes.com/2005/11/the-dark-side-of-the-punkin-chunkin/

On the bright side, the traffic will be better. It was a serious PITA getting to the old location... traffic backed up for miles and miles.

Sounds like with those stipulations that the venue is in Maryland, not Delaware. :sad20:

It's too bad, always watched it on TV and was trying to convince my buddy to team up to compete in one of the events but I think that's not going to happen.

It's going to be at the Firefly hipster event place next door and the track.
First two days will be the long distance (setup tuesday) wednesday and thursday will be 1-2 shot each(can you say not much to see and long days with not much going on) then tear down and move to target range and
from what I understand, friday-sunday will be blasting targets.

Man, it was cool ten years ago. But even then the traffic sucked.

Yeah, I can't imagine it taking place somewhere other than a huge freshly cleared cornfield. A speedway ain't it. And before Halloween now? :sad20:
