Some of these board members have served quite a long time!
Appointed by Governor with Senate advice & consent to 3-year terms:
Charles M. Thomas, Jr., Chair, 2016 first appointed 2/5/2002
Rolinda S. Collinson, 2014 first appointed 5/17/2000
Seymour R. Goldstein, 2015 first appointed 10/20/2009
W. Roland Knapp, 2017 first appointed 9/23/2011
Charles L. Washington, 2017 first appointed 7/19/2005

I will try to do some more research on the Board members, a couple seem to be lawyers, not sure about others.
They are paid by the day when they meet $120 for members $142 for chair, so less than $3000 a year. So far I have not seen any thing that shows any qualifications to serve on this board, except the Governor's and Senate's blessing. Doesn't seem to be enough money to be a real plum, so perhaps they are all idealists
