ok so I ended up buying a Spikes Cold Hammer Forged 14.5" barrel and now need a muzzle device to get pinned and welded on it. I'm all about just slapping the A2 on it and be done, but I seem to get a face made at me every time I suggest this on a customer build. SO, without breaking the bank on some seriously silly crap.. suggestions?

Can't slap an A2 on it it would be under 16" OAL. My suggestion is either a Spikes Dynacomp or a Battlecomp.

Don't ruin that short barrel, You can sell it to me for some ridiculously low price so you won't be caught with the short barrel

YHM QD suppressor mount/muzzle brake, dual purpose and brings you to a happy OAL length...

Well, the battle comp and surefire and DEF out of my price range.... and I seriously doubt I will ever go through the hassle of a supressor soooooooo

    Im SO far considering:

Yankee Hill Machine Phantom - 5C1
Rock River Arms Tactical Muzzle Brake
BCM A2X (Extended A2 Flash Suppressor)
    Vltor Compensator Model VC-1
    Spikes Tactical Dynacomp-5.56-SBV1017

I am already doing just that. Sold my #2 AR this spring, figuring I could just build a second upper. Decided to build something in 14.5" so that I could add a suppressor down the road.
    DTI 14.5" barrel. Removing A2 gas block/FS.
Samson Evolution handguard 7"(my parts bin)
YHM clamp on flip sight/gas block.
    YHM FH Phantom 5.56 QD
    YHM carbine gas line.
    Aero-Precision complete upper receiver
Matech extended flip rear sight w/200-600y adjustment
I chose the YHM Phantom 5.56 QD because it was less than $75 from MidwayUSA, has the offensive front edge on the flash hider, and was in stock. I will get the YHM suppressor later.
I wanted something that supprted a suppressor that would be under $1000 including the $200 Fed stamp.

I just mentioned it since it's also pretty effective as a flash suppressor.

YHM Phantom series is best bet if your not looking to spend much, IMO.

I have a2x flash hiders on both my 14.5s...i would much rather decrease sound and flash than get a bit more muzzle control...after all, muzzle control can be achieved through learning how to hold and control the rifle, theres nothing you can do in a physical way to manage flash and sound...comps are overly loud and their flash is pretty damn wild, some are better than others but its still there in a big way...

Becides, when did 556 become a high recoil caliber that needs a comp? Lol

My 5.56 rifles blow my contacts off my eye without a comp on...
