I remember the day I was in Duffy's playing impromptu "assistant sales guy".
I was looking around and this couple walked in interested in a pistol, and the guy behind the counter showed the lady a Beretta. While she was holding it I gave her a quick little lesson in the mechanics of a pistol.
Couldn't stick around though to see if they ended up buying it.

There are customers who say they are against the HQL and will never get one BUT will ask to see all the guns the shelves.
There is a real dollar cost to making a sale and even higher one to not making a sale. I am not talking about the cost of the widget. If some moron comes in and fondles every handgun and doesn't have or intends to get a HQL, that is a loss to the shop. Not to mention the stress on the poor guy behind the counter.
