As I understand DC has constitutional open carry now, and concealed carry will have to be created as of today. Why does the court rule on dc and Chicago but not md?
How can the court refuse this case law precise ntthat has pprevailed?

Different courts. DC, being a federal territory is part of the federal circuit. Maryland is part of the 4th.

The court did rule in favor of MD.

Also different cases. MD had a may issue both IL and DC had total bans.

    Wow. Awesome.

The court ordered the city to now allow residents from the District and other states to carry weapon within its boundaries.

Judge Scullin wrote that the court “enjoins Defendants from enforcing the home limitations of [D.C. firearms laws] unless and until such time as the District of Columbia adopts a licensing mechanism consistent with constitutional standards enabling people to exercise their Second Amendment right to bear arms.”

Good for the law abiding citizens who choose exercise their 2nd Amendment rights in DC. Hopefully this sticks, because it goes without a doubt DC will appeal this ruling. I just continue to shake my head when areas of this country typically more restrictive than Maryland have a favorable ruling when it comes to excercising 2A rights. It would be great to have a case fast track to the Supreme Court that would have to potential of extending all rights equally in all fifty states and the District. However, we all know if such a case exist it will take years for the case to even reach that level. We can dream for it.

Someone pointed out if DC appeals, it goes to the DC Circuit, which has already established a precedent in Heller. They have to abide by that precedent. DC has some very tough decisions to make.

    IANAL
