I love the 5guys burger, or hotdog with bacon and cheese.

And my goats love the left over fries. They eat them like candy.:)

Black Hog BBQ and Family Meal, but when I'm not there I do SmashBurger and 5 Guys. Brewer's Alley has a pretty good burger too.

If I'm going out and want aa good burger, I go to Wag's in downtown Frederick.

    Otherwise, I make it myself.

X2 on this one as well; my wife and I also both like their burgers.

Edit: one more to add. I forget it because it's not open all year; it just reopened for this season. It's right off the intersection of Monocacy and E. Patrick and is called "Beef N Buns N Paradise". It looks like a regular house almost. Worth a visit for the quaintness if nothing else but they have some good stuff. No indoor sit down so go on a nice day.

    Sunshine corner store.

I haven't eaten there in years but my kids have recently and they swear it's the best burger around.

Second best commercial burger I've had in 20 years in Maryland is Brewer's Alley in Frederick.

5 guys reminds me of the burgers I used to get in the Army chow halls. Uniform, tough, tasteless.

Cheeburger meat always smells to me like it's just starting to "turn."

I get venison burger made by Tom Knott up in Mt. Airy with 10% beef suet and blend in a little pork sausage at home. People ask me what's in my burgers - I tell them just beef and secret recipe. Only thing is the suet on the BBQ smokes up the back yard and smells like Crayola crayons are burning.

Other than that, there's a brew pub I forget the name of down on the river in Nashville. Big River Grill ad Brewing Works. Awesome.

I just find the meat here on the east coast is weird.

Try the Sunshine corner store. It's a pit, and old gas station and deer check-in station/fishing gear shop, "funky" but it's worth it.

Red Robin is good. I also like to go to Michaels in Timonum on Tues or the Swallow at the Hollow, York and Northern Pkwy on Wed for 1/2 price burgers.

Wags is right on the main drag in downtown Frederick. It's a little sign and a short set of stairs down underneath another store, so get the address before you go because it's not obvious but, yeah, their burgers are good. I like their fries too. They've been there quite a while.

Family meal is fantastic. The duck fat fries are great as well. Black hog, when on point, is great too, but we've gotten a few crappy meals from them as well as missing items on multiple take out orders. However, that's when we go to the ijamsville location. Just my experiences though.

I've been munching 5 guys, Red Robin, and the like for the last few months.

With the good weather I can go back to my all time favorite: Fresh ground chuck 1/4-1/3 lb burgers cooked on the Weber kettle over lump charcoal. Grill a potato bun and serve it with fresh onions, lettuce and tomato. Sometimes I'll throw on cheese and sometimes I'll grill the onions. Ketchup and mustard work for condiments, but I've also used mayo, as well as, thousand island dressing. Once in a while, I will also stuff the burgers with blue cheese prior to grilling.

    :yummy: Now I'm hungry...

I'll second this. Used to be Cheeseburger in Paradise, but the Jimmy Buffet organization got on them. Their burgers are great, so are their milkshakes.

Only been to Family Meal once, but it was a good experience. My wife and I seldom agree on restaurant food, but we both had the burgers and split the duck fries, and they were first-class. I don't usually like "creative" mixed drinks, but the whiskey sours we had were also very good.

I might change my mind if I tried it again, but the one time I was at Black Hog, their dry rub mix was just too sweet, sorta like Famous Dave's but not as bad. Give me Andy Nelson's any day.

If anyone is ever near port deposit, old south smokehouse is pretty good. A lot of different burgers and pricing is good.

The Old Smokehouse has great food such as burgers, ribs, BBQ chicken, BBQ brisket, crabs when in season and everything is good. A very small bar/restaurant with limited seating. If too busy they also have take-out, worth the trip.:thumbsup:

Nearby is Prost, the german restaurant which is also pretty good.

Prost is pretty good. True German restaurant. They even do a big tent out back and have a version of Oktoberfest. I highly reccomend Old South Smokehouse. They even have craft beers on tap.

Must be why we hadn't seen it one our once-a-month visits to downtown Fredneck.

Be on the look-out next time. Thanks
It is across the street from Griff's Landing. I usually go in there when we do a pub crawl through downtown Frederick.
