  • After buying a Sig 1911 Tac Ops (Which I pick up tomorrow), and waiting the 30 day period. I will be buying a Dan Wesson .44 Magnum, which comes with a 7" barrel.

    Now, here's the fun part.

If anyone remembers the movie "Last Action Hero", and the villain "Benedict", and his monstrous Dan Wesson .357 revolver with the crazy rear sights, the grip, and the massively long muzzle brake compensator on the front.

Is there a reputable gunsmith who can do that to this .44 Magnum?

I should be picking up the weapon in a few weeks once my 30 days is cleared, (Yes, I am looking into getting a bloody MDC, but since I work more hours than most people. It is extremely difficult to get the time to get things done. Bear with me).

Don't judge me, i'm a fat boy who loves handcannons. It's un-american to not own a handcannon. Blame Hollywood.

I loved that movie as a kid and think that it's one of the most underrated action movies of the 1990s. Charles Dance did a fantastic job as such a delightfully hammy, yet monstrous villain.

I wish I knew a gunsmith I could recommend - but I'd just love to see the finished product.

Thank you, it's been a dream to have one like that. I fell upon a friend, who knows a friend that's selling this DW .44 Mag. Even though in the movie it's a .357. But the .44 Mag makes a bigger statement. Or what I call a, "**** You" gun. (Apologies for the language MDS). So the goal is, if they can do it in .357, they can do it in .44 Mag.

I saw that movie, don't recall the DW. That pic, though, looks like a revolver with open Olympic shooting on its mind. Could enhance it with the barrel vents DW used to save weight....I mean cool the barrel.

I've been looking at 357 Dan Wessons and the Gunbroker sellers aren't giving an inch on price. These things are destined to appreciate. If you must replicate a movie stunt gun, pick a beater to work with.
