    Sen Conway has introduced SB0017:
    http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/webmga/frmMain.aspx?pid=billpage&tab=subject3&id=sb0017&stab=01&ys=2015RS

Authorizing a Baltimore City school police officer to carry a firearm on the premises of a Baltimore City public school and any other property used for an educational purpose owned, leased, or operated by, or under the control of the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners; etc.

Wouldn't a current police office that is on duty already be allowed to carry?

Ok, after reading the bill, it makes sense. Currently, an officer can only carry at a particular school that they are assigned to on a full time basis (paraphrase) This removes those restrictions and allows any BC officer to carry in any school or property controlled by the school system.

    More movement by Senator Conway:
    SB0068:
    http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/webmga/frmMain.aspx?pid=billpage&tab=subject3&id=sb0068&stab=01&ys=2015RS

Repealing the requirement that the Department of Natural Resources establish a program in Charles County and St. Mary's County to train rifle shooters to hunt deer for the purpose of controlling the deer population; repealing the requirement that the Department give specified applicants priority to participate in the program; repealing a requirement that the Department report on the implementation of the program to the General Assembly on or before December 1, 2016; etc.

Her other firearm-related bill, SB0017 has been crossfiled in the House as HB0101 by Del. Anderson:

Current law only allows in uniform officers to open carry in public school in 2 instances, one is when responding to an call (which is different than "on duty"), or if they concealed their firearm (even when in uniform).

this was one of the hotly debated aspects of sb281 because of certain delegate's and senator's disparaging comments about law enforcement officers when the idea to allow them to carry in schools while merely in uniform was brought up.

    And here it is!
SB0100 has been submitted by Senator Norman and has numerous sponsors.
    http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/webmga/frmMain.aspx?pid=billpage&stab=01&id=sb0100&tab=subject3&ys=2015RS
    It's a re-submitting of SB0729 from 2014's GA

I won't get excited about this until it makes it out of committee. Last year's bill had 3 more sponsors than this year and it died a quiet death.

I will, of course, email and call my representatives to demand they look upon this favorably.

    Yeppers ...

To add to the level of "interesting" there are now enough Republicans in the house, that if the caucus wanted to, they could petition a bill out of committee.

What does this mean to the public? Anything that is Desk Drawered, could be petitioned out to be voted on by the entire House.

How does that help us, when the Democrats still hold the majority? For the first time in a long time, we can get an actual look at how Delegates feel about issues, and then hold them accountable for that actual vote. It gives us a form of leverage we have not had in quite a long time.

    Just food for thought.

Also, we need to keep reminding them WHO put them in office, or in the case of those who lost ... using them as the example of WHY. Expose the incumbent voting records now BEFORE the GA convenes and have a 'dirty dozen' list handy to remind them.

We need to contact the Govener and ask him to rally support for these bills but especially the SB 0100 for wear carry.
He needs to hear from us the 2a community and we need to be polite and professional. In addition your state Senator and Delagates should be hearing from you as well.
