I have their Crossfire II with similar magnification on my AR and love it.

I have their Viper 6-24x44mm on my 30-06 and also love it.

I think Vortex is by far the best bang for your buck out there. I won't buy another Nikon after my experiences with their "warranty" last year.

I think it's Optice Planet to Midway that has the Leupoled 3-9 EFR on close out for $249. A hell of a price on an AO scope.

I just bought the Bushnell Tactical Mil Mil 4-16x44 from Midway for $249. Someone on here highly recommended them and they go on sale 1/2 the year for this price from $399. Haven't had a chance to try it yet though. Thought it was a good way to get into Mil Mil with a FFP reticle. Looking thru it it is very clear.

The Vortex is back to $439. I should have jumped on it when I saw this thread.

What do you plan on doing with it? For hunting a 4-16x would be fine. I think that would be a little short for LR shooting myself. When I built a .308 for LR I went with about the least expensive setup known to work out to 1000 yards, the Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 FFP, a 20 MOA offset rail (EGW), and a set of 6 bolt HD tactical rings (Burris). I managed to squeeze all three in for under a grand, whether I ever get to shoot that far out or not.
