Are M18 Smoke Grenades still legal to buy? When I was younger there was a surplus store near me that sold them for about $30 a piece.

Now I dont see them anywhere. Although it has been a LONG time since I bought one.

    Just curious.

Last I heard, smoke grenades were not DDs... but they were reclassified as explosives last year, and there are a whole set of regulations that deal with those. That's why no one's selling them to civilians anymore.

50/50 mix of sugar and potassium nitrate (salt peter) from the pharmacy and you have your smoke grenade. :innocent0

When I was in AP Chem in HS, one of my tasks as an AP student was to teach a chem class to the local middle school. I taught them this.

My question: what's a good fuse?

A can of "stump remover" from the local hardware store and sugar works great and is way easy to find. I honestly don't know the chemical compound of the stump remover but it is awesome.

Exactly. Where does one find Visco Safety Fuse?

Tennis balls. Film canisters. Ping pong balls. Jelly jar...plastic. wrap with duct tape too may be a solution.. or just how they are.

What do you pack the 50/50 mixture in? I have plenty of fuse.

I have used film canisters. use to be free at places like Penn Camera. They had a big box of them. if you melt it you dont really need a fuse. i melted mine in to waffers (looked like vanilla waffer cookies) break them in half and lite the tips with a lighter. Could not even put it out when i burried it in snow.
