I have a feeling that this bill will pass.

It will pass because it's an election year and passing it will allow the dems to go back to the constituents and say they support 2A voted to repeal the FSA, knowing that Owe'Malley will veto it and the FSA will stand.

    Interesting perspective.

Well, ain't that kinda what they did to get it passed in the first place?

Vote against the bill because that's public record, knowing you don't have the numbers for that to make a damn bit of difference anyhow, and then you can go back to your district and say "Hey, look what I did."

Then turn around and derail any attempt at stopping it, because that isn't public record, and kiss the asses of the hierarchy in the State House.

I like it.... but how do they ensure its not a veto proof majority..

And who on the left gets to play odd man out..

But I like your thinking... and it does give mom the finger .... so that's a bonus for some that have decided to lame duck themselves...

Wonder what would happen if a bill to repeal the rain tax got floated.....:)

This is great, but I don't see how it has any better chance without including a provision to repeal "good & substantial," so why not do that as well?

This won't go anywhere. But I'm hoping it makes it out of committee and gets voted on. Frosh is so angry that anyone would dare challenge his precious gun law that he launches into a twelve hour long ranting tirade about "filthy redneck psychopaths" and attacks anyone who tries to stop him. After trying to bite Delegate Smigel's ear off, he is involuntarily confined to a loony bin and out of Maryland politics.

It would be a victory that way.

That would be something nice to get on film. :innocent0

Stop giving a f..k what the opposition thinks. We play our game. We need only make life uncomfortable for the back benchers..

I don't. My rights are not a game to be played over.

Someone who tries to take something that does not legally belong to them is a criminal and should be dealt with accordingly.

All we can do is take whatever legal steps that are at our disposal. If we don't do that, then we have no one to blame buy ourselves.

Just a thought. The very principle of democracy and civil liberty requires it's populace to remain educated and engaged. Just because you do not believe this will get traction doesn't mean you should not be vocal about it and speak out.

It's that very principle of lack of education that has led the Democratic Party astray to become party only voters because they fear the Republican Party. It's also the lack of participation of the Republican Party when they feel ignored that gives unilateral power to the Democratic Party to makes laws like these.

It starts with you, as you read this. It's an email, a phone call, a letter. You are teaching your children to be responsible citizens and to participate. You are showing your respect to the Americans who die for your rights to keep your Freedoms, the founders of this Country's Constitution, and the colonials who wanted liberty away from Europe to pursue what they felt was right.

If this burden is too much I understand but do not type away about how annoyed you are like a zealot.

    Cribbed from the Judo wiki:
In short, resisting a more powerful opponent will result in your defeat, whilst adjusting to and evading your opponent's attack will cause him to lose his balance, his power will be reduced, and you will defeat him. This can apply whatever the relative values of power, thus making it possible for weaker opponents to beat significantly stronger ones. This is the theory of ju yoku go o seisu.

So if the ones who voted for SB281 then try to play the "I support 2A" by voting for HB60 (expecting either failure in the house or veto by MOM), they can be attacked for flip-flopping. That puts them on the defensive, which is a position of weakness.

Oh, and cockroaches don't like the light, so keep shining it on them.

I'm on board with drawing out the public comment periods for this one also. This is part of the process. I can see some tyrants in patriot's clothing using it to say they support 2A. We must advertise who does not support overturning the veto if it comes to that. It is all rhetoric and spin any way one cuts it. We must operate in this arena and not leave it up to the courts despite it being over a very serious topic.

It would be interesting to see if those that voted against the ban would vote for it's repeal. Like was said previously, in so many words, that it puts legislators on record. Being from Southern Maryland, I'm not sure Bohanan and Dyson would vote for its repeal. But if they don't, they open themselves up for challengers.

I'd like to see a rider tacked on to this one along the lines of:
"Instant public castration, electrocution, and decapitation of any individual putting forth any future bills like the so-called 'Firearms Safety Act'."

It would get knocked down to "no lolly-pop after document submittal" and then back and forth until the end result would simply be the future offender exiled to, for example, Nogales. After a brief struggle for their life, they would come to realize that having a gun to keep from getting dead can be a good thing.

If the jackwads can mess with our liberties with their little BS games, why can't we mess back?

Note for the busy-bodies: this "tongue-in-cheek" post does not constitute actual verbal or written threats to any citizen, especially those little-bubble-living, head-in-the-sand, self-serving, drains on the economy and quality of life in the "Free State" - more commonly known as politicians.
