I received tonight a UPS package from J&G. I ordered a Star Model B with the hand select option and wrote a note requesting wood grips. I always op for the hand select options when available and I have been treated well from J&C and Classic. I was surprised to see this nice blued pistol with excellent wood grips.

I'm not too familiar with the markings and I'm need more information about this pistol.

    It's a 1945 Star B. The * over a P indicates that it was made in '45.

The CAI mark is, of course, the import mark. It looks like CAI also put their own serial number on it (should be the same as on the heel of the gun, but with a prefix). They reportedly do that when they already have another gun with the same number in their database.

You might want to take a photo of the number on the heel of the gun. That might tell us something (or not). Also, look carefully on the right side of the frame, in the area above the trigger. Any faint marks there? Hard to tell from the pics.

Here are more pics. No markings on the right side of the trigger.

OK ... the area on the right of the frame is where we'd typically see things like a Guardia Civil cartouche, or one from the Union of South Africa, but it doesn't look like either of those were ever there. I think the serial number is what it should be for a B series, but I'll have to check the Antaris book later. It doesn't appear to be an A upgraded to a B. The markings on the barrel are correct, and the bore looks pretty darned good.

    You got a nice 1945 B there!

Ordered it on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 1:30 am after read several postings from members in this forum. It was an impulsive buy, like most buys from klonies that are addicted to this site including myself. It arrived on Monday at 10am.

Very nice. Have you had a chance to shot it yet?
I recently picked one up from J&G too. Needed some TLC but is in good condition. Took it to the range last week. It shot wonderfully. Nice tight group at 25feet. It's now my favorite pistol on range days.

Your post pushed me over the edge and I ordered one from j&g around 3pm this afternoon. At 730 I got a shipment notification email from ups. I will have mine on Thursday. Hopefully I will do as well as you did on condition.

Got my shipping notice from j&g today for delivery thurs. Ordered 9/25, I thought my c&r was on file with them, I guess it wasn't. That lead to a delay in shipping, oh well. I'm hoping for a nice blued specimen just like the OP's. It's looking more likely that the j&g shipment are blued. So glad that CAI didn't billboard these!

Notice it also has that funky little extension at the front of the grip that they started using post-war. So it's probably one of the first made with that.

I ordered one from Century last night, and my friend ordered one from J&G yesterday. SO I will post pics when they come. My last order from Century took about a month so I won't be holding my breath...
